Option Two-

It was as if one of the middle layers of the skin went into "fast-regenerate" mode and created a residual layer of fluid in between the layers (This would probably itch a lot, and only hurt because you scratched it)?

When I painted, my sinuses opened up within seconds. I layed there and let it soak in. As I said, it was only two drops. When I finally got up, a drop ran down my belly, so all of it didn't have time to soak in. The spot felt kind of cool and mildly tender. The next day it itched. I scratched, and much to my surprise, there was water under the skin and it slipped right off leaving a big pink spot.
