Re: Issue 64: Ulcerative Colitis Cure - Vitamin E Enema & Diet
Hi Sheldon,
It's been another positive week, except for last Monday, when I detected a small amount of blood in my stool. It was quite discouraging, but I snapped back immediately the following day. I'm not sure what I did to cause this minor setback, other than I took Tylenol in the morning that day, because I had a bad headache which my physician said was probably caused by prednisone withdrawal.
I will be taking my last 5mg tablet of prednisone tomorrow morning and I am finally done with this terrible drug. I should have mentioned in my last message that I had to get a prescription for Xanax just to cope with the terrible side effects of the prednisone.
Anyway, I have continued with the E enemas every day and for the most part I am only using the toilet twice per day with mostly formed stools and some loose ones too.
I am eating the steamed vegetables every day as well and I really am starting to feel normal again as I have new energy and a better outlook on my future now.
By the way, I am 56 years old and this is my second bout with colitis. The first one started 6 years ago and it took a year and a half to clear up. I was not aware back then of the food connection, but I remember starting to juice vegetables every day and that seemed to hasten my "cure". I was convinced that drinking juiced cabbage helped a great deal, but I have no real proof.
So I stayed Colitis-free for about 4 1/2 years until this past July when it came back during some stressful work and home situations that I had problems dealing with.
I read a book by Dr Lamar Gibbons which deals mainly with the foods I should be eating and the ones that need to be avoided while you still have inflammation. I was following his recommendations until I saw your posting on this website. Since I was still having daily blood, I decided to give the E enemas a try and I'm glad I did.
So I will be going through this week without any prescription drugs and will continue to follow your recommendations.
Thanks again for posting this valuable information and I hope others are finding the same relief I am. I promise not to rush into doing anything that might jeopardize my progress this far.
Looking forward to hearing from you again.
