I am past the half-century mark and empowered by the life experiences I have been blessed with. I have enjoyed being a wife and a mother and was an antique store owner for many years.
After coming to a fork in the road, my husband and I decided to come apart and I became somewhat nomadic, searching for a deeper meaning in my life. I was diagnosed with colon cancer the same year Katie Couric's husband was diagnosed and died from it. That was a real wake up call for me and I would have to say it really influenced many of my life choices since then.
I put all my stuff in storage and began journeying. I was fortunate to spend a couple of years with another friend who was also battling cancer. We did our healing protocols together and traveled places I had never been and he wanted to see again once we had regained a level of health enabling us to enjoy doing such things. One favorite destination was repeated trips to the Warm Mineral Springs just south of Venice, Florida. We traveled with our Champion Juicer, a steamer, blender and a hot plate, staying in everything from motels to villas. We found a place to live in Florida which backed up to a Nature Conservancy. Remote and beautiful! and healing!
I probably would have kept returning to Florida since we enjoyed the area between there and Ashville, North Carolina, and the Smokies, also making the trip back to Bull Shoals Lake in Arkansas many many times. One day though, I woke up, feeling better than ever, and by that evening, I had been in a car wreck, hit by a 16 year old having a drug and alcohol party in his folk's car. It changed my life in a heartbeat. I abandoned many dreams in those next weeks but by the grace, they were replaced with seeds for change which have proven to be synchronous and special. I had an incredible chiropractor in Missouri who I felt would help me regain what I had lost from the accident. My loyalty proved rewarding and a year later I felt so good and aligned and most importantly, no pain!
I celebrated by driving out west. I had always wanted to go out west, but had only flown over it. I traveled to Sedona and spent a month there healing more and hiking in the desert. It was great, but again, I missed the mighty oaks of Missouri and the *middle*. I drove back home and left the lovely red rocks of Sedona behind.
I did not know what my next adventure would be, but I was spending the day with a friend soaking in the Niangua River and praying. "Open a door God and I will find the courage to walk through it", I prayed. The next morning a friend called from Puerto Rico asking me to come to Texas and watch her place until she got home. I sure did not expect this at all but was not going to argue the answer to a prayer...ggg.
My friend and her husband are both healers and I was invited to stay and study with them. Its been two years now and I am still learning and still enjoying this experience. I do not know what the future holds and I do not worry about it. I enjoy my life one day at a time and continue to work my way back to where I was the morning of the car wreck. I am now cancer free and continue the body maintenance I worked so hard to learn and implement on my path to healing. I have a fresh appreciation for my body and a willingness to cultivate happiness and joy.
Life is good~~~
blessings,
Zoe
