Having the IUD inserted was horrible for me as well...HORRIBLE! Having it taken out was a piece of cake. And I was very very apprehensive because at my annual visit just before they weren't able to feel the strings so I was afraid it had kind of taken off and become embedded. Removal was nothing, NOTHING, compared to having it inserted.
I too don't have all of the symptoms people describe here. But I gained about 25 lbs in the year 1/2 I had the thing, and my belly is huge, and this is in spite of having lyposuction last summer, because I was so frustrated that I was eating right and exercising and still putting on all of this belly fat!!! I went from 135 lbs to 160 lbs.
I haven't really lost any weight in the 2 months since having the IUD removed, but I do feel better and I am hopeful that the weight will come off. I continue to eat well and exercise regularly and my boyfriend can't understand how I can weigh what I do when I do all the right things...but I have read on this forum that sometimes it just takes a little while to get your hormones back to normal and for the weight to budge. So I'm trying to just keep positive thoughts that eventually everything I am doing will work.
I have also scheduled appt for complete physical with my primary care physician to see if my thyroid has been thrown out of whack as result of this thing...because I'm wondering if I might be dealing with that. And if that's the case, I am going to ask about trying
Iodine therapy in lieu of synthroid cuz I'm really a little leary of adding any more hormones to my body after this experience !! Fortunately my primary care doc is open to alternative medicine.
Good Luck to you!
