Following a candida free diet is the way to go. Steroids FEED yeast and Antibiotics
strengthen them. Yeasts have developed Antibiotics
as a mutation because they compete with bacteria (fresh knowledge from my genetics class this summer) for survival. My aunt was on steroids for years not knowing what was wrong with her. When she finally figured out she had systemic candidiasis...let's just say the steriods she was on to help her symptoms DIDN'T help.
I'm not your doc obviously but if you're sure you have candida you already know you shouldn't be eating sugar, fruit, flour, etc or you wouldn't have put it in your post that you "cheated".
Often when you detox you have symptoms of a vaginal yeast infection because candida leaves the body through the orifices; in women the most convenient is the vagina.
Make sure to keep your colon clean and eat plenty of friendly bacteria; through kefir, cultured veggies, or probiotics. Bacteria are your allies in your war against yeast.
For topical relief try plain yogurt. I've heard douches with ACV or probiotics are helpful as well.
Check out the body ecology Diet Forum
; some have had sucess and some haven't but I know Donna Gates is very available if you have problems.
Candida is very hard to shake. Good luck.
