I use Aquaphor healing ointment, but it doesn't make my lips better. I use it when my lips are starting to look bad, at which point it serves two purposes: it softens them up and makes them glossy enough that it's hard to tell that the lips are peeling, and it makes peeling easier when I get to a place where I can peel them.
For example, I might be in the middle of a work day and my lips are starting to harden and look sunken in, and they might be stained with coffee. I put Aquaphor on often enough to keep them soft and shiny for the rest of the day, and when I get home I put water on them for a few seconds and then exfoliate the skin. Good as new.
Due to the glossiness, this might not work as pleasingly for guys. But as a girl it just looks like I put on lip gloss. Basically, applying the Aquaphor is a point of no return for lips that are getting ready to peel. Don't use it if you want the skin to stay on longer.
