Jenni,
Good for you to want to change them over to raw!
I would look for a holistic vet. You could also try the web site
http://www.holisticvet.com
and click on Search and then go down to the advanced area and put in your state and zip (if you are in the US or Canada) and you should come up with a list of vets near you. It is a good place to start.
As far as how much it costs to feed dogs and cats raw foods, that is kind of difficult to answer, as this depends on what you feed them, the quality and quantity of the meats, veggies and fruits you use. I buy meats and offal in as much bulk as possible and freeze them and then thaw as needed. You will be able to find deals nearby and maybe even be able to buy directly from farms, etc, depending where you are located. I would say it may cost 25%-50% more than kibbled commercial dog foods, but the benefits blow away the costs. Our dogs have perfectly clean teeth (you will never need to take them to the vet for dental cleaning), they smell fantastic (no doggy smell at all) and their coats shine like nothing else. Plus ultimately you may never need to take them to the vet again, as they will be so healthy, which ends up to be a huge savings.
A great forum to join to learn alot fast is at
http://www.groups.yahoo.com
Join the group called Rawfeeding for dogs and the one called Rawcat for cats. Plus there is one called CarnivoreFeed-Supplier that might help on finding deals. These can help alot.
It is alot to digest, but dig in and enjoy. The reward is so worth it.
Blessings to you and your critterkids.
