Where I live, we hold firewalks and part of
that seminar includes empowering a person to
believe in the power of their mind. The class
includes spoon-bending, board-breaking, and
rebar bending etc. I know the silverware is
not tampered with, and we just go out and buy
regular stainless steel stuff. The boards are
real wood from the lumber yard and I use the
leftover bent rebar in the garden and sure could
not bend it myself on the spur of the moment.
I cannot speak to others demonstration of this
phenomena, but I have seen over and over again
people who bend their spoons like they were
almost liquid and some even twist them as if
to punctuate the effort. I have watched this
over and over and cannot explain it, have no
need to explain it but these exercises do serve
to empower people to trust in their self and
to be able to firewalk with ease. In the hundreds
of people I have seen firewalk, no one has gotten
burned and no one has ever dropped out of the
class. I admit, if I had not seen it myself it
would be hard to believe there was not chicanery.
What I do find myself thinking is wow if so-n-so
can do it...seems anyone can do it~!
Do I believe there are charlatans who *do* amaze
people to relieve them of their $$, yes...but
I also believe that we are capable of doing
wonderous things and that in doing these things
we enable our minds to reach even further to do
what we now consider impossible. For example, when
my child was bleeding I told her to tell the bleeding
to stop. She did it because she believed me and she
was and is successful in doing it. It could be a
good thing to incorporate the *mind* aspect in our
healing experience. Spoonbending can help accomplish
this since you are doing something your mind says
is not possible and yet what to believe, your mind
or your eyes?? I know it will not be popular to
post this comment but as it is a part of my own
greater reality...I want to stand in that truth.
Certainly we have all seen people die since their
doctors tell them they will die. I feel it is important
to be able to reject those thoughts and empower yourself
to believe in another possibility...
be happy, be well,
