Beena,
That is a very interesting question!
I would think, though, that the act of taking a Bach flower essence implies an awareness of how you're feeling and a desire to release it....but you never know!
Star of Bethlehem is mainly for shock and trauma - really surprising or deeply held stuff (everyone should have Star of Bethlehem in their first remedy just because of the shock of being born into the world!).
Anyway...I'm wondering if you need to uncover this sadness? (or, I just read your post and I see the sadness was in the past)....but still...what was at the root of your sadness?? There isn't really an essence for 'just' sadness...Like there is: gloomy feelings where you feel a black cloud over your head - this you should take Mustard or...maybe the sadness springs from not connecting with others? being aloof and cool and not connected? Then Water Violet should be taken. Or...sad because you dont' like where you are and you need a BRIDGE to the other side that will bring you Growth and transformation....then you should take Walnut.
Know what I mean? I have an excellent link to the essences and what blockages they release - but since I'm not at my computer I don't have it handy. I'll post it later, though. I've found it invaluable. I have most of the 38 'mother' tinctures and so I make 'potions' for my friends and family. Sterilize the 1 ounce bottles with droppers and put spring water and 1 tsp of brandy in it and up to 5 different essences, two drops each, into the potion. I love it! I have found it reeeeeallllly works. I think every potion should include Larch for a burst of confidence, sunshine and joy...
