The long-term solution is to address the underlying cause of your constipation. Given that your bowels more when you take fiber, you may not have enough fiber in your diet. You also need to be on the right diet FOR YOU, avoid any foods that you are allergic to or to which you react, drink plenty of water, get sufficient beneficial oils in your diet or in supplements, have a good balance of beneficial bacteria in your intestines, and get sufficient exercise. If you need to 'take' anything on a regular basis in order to go, then you are putting a bandaide on the problem and not getting at the source.
As I said in another post to you, a fibroid that is the size of a 7 month pregnancy will most likely interfere with your colon functioning. No doubt, this needs to be addressed. I previously had several
colonic clients who had fibroids and I could feel them during the abdominal massage. I had fibroids (and endo) myself and it effected my colon functioning.
Enemas are neither messy or uncomfortable once you get the hang of them. They have the added benefit of helping to hydrate you as the body will absorb some of the water that enters the colon...especially if you are dehydrated. They are not as thorough as colonics, but they are beneficial. Even regular enemas used to keep the bowels moving is not addressing the root of the ptoblem. If I had a choice between doing enemas regularly or being chronically constipated, I would do the enemas to avoid autointoxication...but this is a clear sign that something else needs to change in one's lifestyle in order for the digestive system to work well o its own. If doing regular enemas, just make sure that you are using a good mineral supplement to maintain electrolyte balance.
As for herbs, the combination in Holistic Horizons is very effective and there is a lot of informtion about the formula and program in The Colon Health Handbook which was written by Gray and is a companion guide to the cleanse. I think you are underestimating the cost of HH because it is a progressive program requiring an increase in the amount of products until the desired results are achieved...and it may require repeating the program to complete the cleanse. The first time i used HH I was on it for 6 months and it was not cheap, altough well worth the expense.
I hope all this information has been helpful to you. If you are looking for a quick, easy fix to this problem...there is none! It will take work, lifestyle changes, and likely doing/taking things you don't like or find distasteful. But it is a small price to pay for restored health and well-being!
