Hi Julia,
I had 9 fillings removed about 6 months ago. It required 2 office visits. Depending on the size of the fillings, (single surface or multi-surface) determines the cost. Mine were all rather simple. I believe about $125 each. Because most of mine were put in when I was from 8-13 years old, they had all worn pretty well.
Amalgam fillings have a definite life span, so they would all have eventually needed replaced anyway. Because of this, luckily, I think about 55% of the cost was picked up by my insurance company. You might be able to look on Hal Huggins website (he's the one who wrote "It's All In Your Head" about mercury toxicity. I believe they have lists of dentists that had taken his seminar - thereby possibly using his protocol. I think there is also a website www.accuwavesource.com - then do a key word search biological dentistry, and that brings up several agencies to contact. Another GREAT source is visiting your local healthfood stores or calling any alternative clinics or naturopaths, they usually have sources around town. Some dentists will say sure to replacing your fillings (many people are doing it for cosmetic reasons), be weary if they don;t have a "protocol", meaning both the patient and the doctors are protected. I had a supplemental air source put on me (a mask), and each tooth was put under dam to catch all the mercury dusk, and both the dentist and his ass't wore air masks. In addition, at my consultation, each filling was checked for galvanic activing to see which ones were the most "charged". Based on this, they were taken out accordingly. Good luck!
