What you bought is less refined, so it retains more of the essential and trace minerals than pure cane sugar. But it's still a pretty refined sugar, more so than rapadura. Even rapadura is bad in large amounts, as is just eating cane off the stalk. It's what destroyed the Crusades! They got to Egypt, saw all the cane fields, started eating away, and got boils and sores and other ickyness from Sugar
Our bodies just don't like large amounts of sugars. So far the only really carb-y food that the body seriously likes that I can find are sweet potatoes, which start out being very balanced and are more so once you add butter/oils. But even so they'll bother you if you're low on the enzyme for starch.
Figure on having a couple tablespoons of fun Sugar
a day, or as a fruit blender shake, or as rapadura in any one of a number of desserts (recipes in Nourishing Traditions), as part of your maintenance diet. Or a bite of cake once a week. ;)
