To break down the fibrins urrounding the varicose vein, eat a diet rich in garlic, ginger and onions. I like making pasta with a tablespoon of chopped garlic, drinking ginger tea, and all my soups have an onion in them. And of course Kichadi has all three.
Vein strength is helped by compounds known as Anthocyanins and proanthocyanidins, which are pigments found in dark berries, so take advantage of the berry season and rock out on blueberries and blackberries. Make them as a protein shake - yum! eat one of those tiny containers worth of berries each day for as long as you can. :)
Beta-carotene/A, E, and zinc help speed the healing process. If you don't have enough E or Zinc, wounds take forEVER to heal.
You can apply hot comresses to the area to increase circulation, or a castor oil pack. Massage with oil a couple times a day.
