The problem is that the drain cleaners go down into the "P-Trap' where it is supposed to desolve hair and cloggs.. but that is not where the problem is. If you look down into the drain (about 1 inch below the level of the tub, you will see a 'cross' looking bottom of the bethtub drain... that is where the hair is. (The P-trap is about 3-6 inches below that). What you will need to do is to get a pair of 'forcepts or needle nose pliers and reach in as far as you can (between the cris-cross of the drain) and 'grasp' then pull out.... Do this a number of time reaching in-between the cris-cross piece-(there are 4 'holes' or spaces).. Just 'reach in and grasp and pull out.. You will be surprised at the clumps of matted hair and slim you pull out. you will get long clumps of strands of hair. That should solve your problem. If you don't have a pair of forcepts or needle-nose pliers, take a coat hanger or piece of similar thickness wire and form a very small 'hook' at the end. Again, reach in and purhaps 'twist' your hand in a 'scooping' manner to scratch or scrap the drain.. Again, you will get lots of hair.. Good Luck.. Let us know how you make out.

I use boiling water and a plunger to loosen things up. You might want to think about buying a snake to get way down in the drain. You should be able to pick one up in a hardware store.

The only way to unplug a bathtub drain is to take it apart to the point of the Ptrap which is below and behing the tub! you have to open up the wall behind the tub! Its the only way to get access to the tub waste and overflow and the P trap its connected to! There may be an access panel already in place if not knock out a small section of the wall, large enough to dismantle and re install all the appertenances. Then install an access panel for future repairs! Grog

They sell a hair clog removing drain opener...it works well for our bathtub...usually I plunge then put that stuff in overnight, about once a month and it is clear...it is an ongoing battle...

No matter what commercial product I've tried, the bathroom sink would get clogged. I'd clear out the trap but the clogging was further down. A snake only made a small hole.

My cheap remedy:
Pour half a cup of baking soda, then half a cup of vinegar into the drain. Quickly close the drain so the fizz would stay in the pipes. One hour later pour a kettle of boiling water down the drain.

This cleared up the pipes instantly and I have had no problems since.
Maybe for the tub, double the doses.
