I've been doing a lot of research to psych myself up to go another long cleanse. I see a wide spectrum of advice which includes professional which includes anything from colonics, enemas, and implants. Personally, I liked doing a longer cleanse *by the book* so if anything went wrong I know it was not something I did. Sort of like a standard of what I can expect. Others, including Somer, who is a seasoned faster & did tout the benefits of enemas and has successfully used them during her cleanse and gets
colonics every 10 days...she went 60 days, have successfully incorporated these therapies. Somer was also under the guidance of her naturopath so this was supervised. Her experience did allow me the comfort of doing an enema on a particularly bad detox day and it did relieve the symptoms rather quickly. The point being that deviations have and will occur. It is important to pay attention to how your body is reacting to stuff. This upcoming fast, for me, will be more about giving my system a rest and allowing it to rebuild. That being my focus, I intend to use wheatgrass implants and enemas if need be. I will most likely be detoxing too but not at the level previously, so there is a method to the process and it does seem to shift and fluctuate. First-timers I believe do well to stick with the protocol which has worked for thousands. However, many have and do other things which help the process. Skin-brushing, hydro-therapy in the form of
Epsom Salt soaks, using essential oils as aromatherapy...all contribute to detox or relief of symptoms of it, and are not specifically mentioned in the book. The value of the forum is we are able to glean from others experimentation and experience what works or might work for us. So, something to consider as we undo the effects of our lifestyles which promoted these problems in the first place.
Having stood on the stump for a minute, I will add that I do not think
colonics or enemas should substitute the SWF. It is a good top-to bottom flush which pushes the debris field closer to the drain hole...ggg
