Well, since this is your first fast, you should definitely do it with OJ and by the book. You'll be burping a lot.
If you decide to do more fasts, especially if you continue with a weekly one day fast, you can break with other whole fruits. Arnold Ehret has broken his fasts with grape juice, grapes, prunes. Some folks have broken with cabbage and popcorn, with the opinion that these things scrub your insides. They argue that the first meal should not be for nourishment, but to clean out your system (hence Ehret believes you should break with prunes and grapes or cherries). Other folks out there argue that since there isn't a juicer in nature, it is natural to break a fast with whole fruit. I broke my 2nd and 3rd fasts with grapefruit and other whole citrus fruits with no ill effects. It just depends on your body! My friend tried to break her fast today with freshly-squeezed orange juice (her first one) and she threw it up! Sometimes it just has to be more gradual. Your body may be like that and since it's your first, take it easy!
