If this is a concern, DO consider a pre-cleanse diet! I ate this way for 30 days prior to my 60 day mega fast (colon cleansing was my main goal) and was very glad I did!!
Depending on how toxic you feel you are, plan to eat this way for a week to a month before starting your fast. You will greatly lessen or eliminate many of those traditional detox crises.
This diet is a cleanse in itself, and will ease your body gently into the fast:
Bowl of fresh fruit with natural yogurt (whiz as a smoothie if you like)
Raw vegetable salad dressed with good oil and fresh lemon juice
Homemade vegetarian vegetable soup (same kind you break a fast with)
All the fresh juices you like, fruits am, veggies pm
Herb teas and LOTS of pure water
If you drink coffee, taper off during the first 3 days to a week eating this diet. Same for smoking.
