Exfoliative Cheilitis:
It started 4 months ago with the peeling lips, i guess because i licked and picked at my lips and i did breath through my mouth.
Here is my SUCCESS-STORRY!
7 days ago i decided to not touch my lips anymore.
And i went to an Dermatologist with recommendation of my mom and some others.
he gaved me Advantan 0,1% ointment and Bepanthen Wound and healing ointment.
i started to using this ointment Advantan twice a day, and Bepanthen 10-15 times a day.
and it has been 7 days now, no more peeling lips no crusting no dryness, iam not completely healed i guess, i will continue the therapy.
I just wanted to SHARE my success story!

GUYS i dont believe EC is an disease!
Its just a open wound, and it can't heal properly cause all of us are removing the white yellowish crusts. While the body tries to heal itself we abort it and it starts again and again!
I promise you dont TOUCH your lips and use your ointments from your dermatologist and we will gonna kick EC ass!

Was hoping you could take the time to answer some questions.
How soon did you start to see a stop in the peeling?
What times did you apply the Advantan?
And do you think it was the advantan that cured you? Because I have tried a bepanthen cream before and I saw short term success for a few days but the peeling cycle never stopped.
I am particularly interested in whether the peeling will remain stopped after you stop applying the creams.
If you could keep updating this thread everyone would appreciate it!

This is a reply to # 2,268,521Here is a description of the ointment you are using. It sounds like a steroid to lessen inflammation. I do not think it is a wound that never heals. When I used steroid ointments in the past, my lips instantly healed. After I discontinued use, my lips went back to the way they were.

I believe that bepanthen is the answer but i will keep you updated lets see if it will stay normal or turn back to dry and crusty, i hope not but lets see...

This is a reply to # 2,268,536By the way in my case it is a wound cause it started cause i licked picked at my lips and i exfoliated my lip completely cause it was dry and then it bleeded, it can only be a wound.
i think EC is a Wound cause all who have EC dont let their lips heal itself cause they cant in public with these lips i know it.
and as longer u pick at your lips as longer it takes to heal itself (in my opinion).

i used before that Dermatop ointment from another dermatologist its also a steroid as you say.
and with Dermatop there was no healing nothing.
i think it is Bepanthen not the fckin cortisone creams...

i noticed the healing process cause i know the cycle perfectly.
i did saw everyfckin hour for my lips and how they look.
And everyday when i look to the mirror there was a white line in the inner part of my mouth.
since 3-4 days the white line didn't appear, and iam very happy to see a healing and i see a sense in my life again!
10-11 days ago i decided to DONT TOUCH my fckin lips doesnt matter what happens and let it peel naturally by it self. 5-6 days ago i went to a dermatologist with the recommandation of my mom that he's a great doctor.
As i said he gave me the two ointments and said to me that i have to use Advantan twice a day (morning and evening) and Bepanthen wound and healing ointment 10-15 times a day and keep it with me all the time.
so i started to use the ointments.
At the beginning my lips were crusted and hard.
i put the cream just over the crusts.
then the crustst falled down NATURALLY not picked not licked or anything else.
And since 4 days there is no white line in the inner part of my mouth, which is an improvement there is an healing process.
and the final part!
I tried a TEST today and did my lips completely WET!
and it turned not white, there were not even white points!
I just had EC for 3-4 months i think that was the reason why it worked for me that fast.
As i can say iam a curious person and i found out that i had EC 3-4 weeks after it began to peel.
And i tried to not traumatize my lips as best as i can.
And i think for other people it takes longer cause they had EC much longer than me and traumatized their lips much more than me.
I dont know if it was Advantan or Bepanthen,
maybe it was the mix of both.
But i can say Bepanthen is a great heal ointment and moisturizer.

I went out and bought the Bepanthen. My question is, did you got the normal cream, or the ointment?

u have to apply the cream / ointment and rub it into the lips and let it influence.
apply it 10-15 times a day every 1-2 hour.
and dont touch your lips at all, let it peel completely naturally and apply the cream as much as you can, and i promise you, you WILL see resulsts.
i hope really it works also for you guys, so we can talk about a successfully curing method.
So other people can use this technique also.

This is a reply to # 2,268,603Maybe it depends on the steroid cream used or the cause of EC for it to be effective. I just know that the steroid cream I used worked, but I used a recommended one on this forum. I only used it for a week since it is not good to take it over a week.
Oh yeah, I forgot about Bepanthen. It is called a Nappy Care Ointment and is used for diaper or breastfeeding rash/infections. I remember the nappy part or that someone else posted about this ointment in the past. Since it is made to provide a protective layer on the skin, it probably acts like the liquid bandage to keep yeast or bacteria off the lips. What you're saying is quite interesting. I actually did see results using bepanthen in the past, but I definitely didn't apply it as many times as you did.
I am going to retry applying bepanthen but a lot more frequently.
QUESTION. Everytime you reapply, do you wash off the old layer of bepanthen? Or do you apply the new layer directly on top of the old one?

My doctor said i have to apply as much as i can to see resulsts on the healing process.
Apply it as much as you can every 1-2 hours keep it with you and lets see how it works for you!
I hope rlly that it works also for you!
SO OTHER PEOPLE CAN USE THIS METHOD TOO!
as i said, DONT touch your lips dont rub dont pick or lick it just apply the cream and let in alone!

i wash my hands to prevent bacterias.
i dont remove the old layer i just reapply it, so it can be protected 7/24.

This is a reply to # 2,268,672I recommend to everyone who is giving this a try to use a cotton ear bud to put the ointment on the lips to avoid as much contact with hands as possible.
Also put enough that there is still visible cream on the lips. I have found if I do not do this (experiment last night) I wake up with my progress stuck from the top lip to the bottom. This may be also be due to aloe vera juice on my lips, so cannot guarantee.

This is a reply to # 2,268,857I cant say it's completely healed but the most part almost healed my upper lip is completely gone and lower lip is 60-70% healed!
Thats called SUCCESS!!!
Try my Method follow all steps and you will see amazing resulsts, it just took 5-6 days to see a healing process! u just have to follow my steps

What would happen if you do stop it, will it stay cured or gets back to EC?
I had similar results using hydrocortisone, but once i stopped it it just came back and got worse.

Iam not cured completely i will continue the therapy and if my creams are finished ill check if it comes back or dry again.
For now since 6-7 days there was no peeling from the inner part or from outer part.
My upperlip is completely healed and my lower lip is going to heal i guess it takes still 1-2 weeks that my lower lip is healed.
I'll keep you guys updated!
but all i can say, my lips feel and look better than they ever did!
And i will continue my treatment until all my creams are gone.

This is a reply to # 2,268,515Having to apply mositure several times a day is not a cure. Stop using the therapy and it will come back if you actually had EC. The process is just mosurized the peeled skin so it comes off, and alos inhibiting cell formation.
