My mom has Hashi's and my brother had his thyroid removed years ago (not sure why, but clearly there's a genetic link to thyroid problems in our family).
I have a long history of low cortisol, but normal thyroid. TSH and TPOab still normal but now thyroglobulin antibodies found to be 3.4 on a scale of 0.0-0.9 IU/ml. Gaining weight rapidly without eating all that much. My naturopath says not to worry; that people with true Hashi's have ranges in the hundreds. Even though the thyroglobulin antibody test results itself says HIGH.
Is it high? I'm thinking so........? What do I do now?

This is a reply to # 2,163,812I would wager your your antibody count us going up and will continue to over time as free radical damage buildup occurs in your thyroid due to lack of selenium.
Does your naturopath have you on selenium and/or iodine? If not, why not?

This is a reply to # 2,163,826Bad reactions, as may have since learned, are a healing crisis. Too much Iodine can force out toxins which can bring with it a whole slew of side effects. Those with a more toxic buildup or hampered immune system seem to suffer more than others.

This is a reply to # 2,163,831I developed a huge mouth sore, had back pain around my kidneys, would wake up with the taste of urea in my mouth and my pee was clear and reeked of ammonia. That's not detox, that's impending kidney failure.

This is a reply to # 2,163,8364 tablets a day of what? What size?
How do you think toxins are eliminated from the body? Many ways actually but kidneys are certainly a big one. If you go stirring things up and forcing a lot of toxins into the blood stream they are going to need to be dealt with.
This is why its often recommended to start slow to see how you respond and then up the dose. Clearly you didnt research the subject.

This is a reply to # 2,163,861It was a number of years ago and I did follow a protocol involving selenium, etc. and ramping up of iodine. I had chosen Iodorol.
I will revisit it and I thank you for your advice. It's the first time I have ever had a thyroid result that was out of range, even though I had suspected it was off for years.

This is a reply to # 2,164,041I had my Amalgams out 15 years ago. I'm a vegan so I don't eat fish. I've made mountains of cilantro pesto. Downed chlorella. Had many colonics. If I do have any mercury in me, the methods of chelation I've seen and read about are a crapshoot and can have serious side effects...

This is a reply to # 2,164,085Dont forget the other toxins, works "well" with mercury, like cadmium, arsenic (rice for instance) aluminium. Veganism do not protect from these, all are thyroid disruptures. Then you have the soy, well covered at this forum.

This is a reply to # 2,163,812I just got back test results EXACTLY like these. My TPOab is normal, but TGab is 3.5 (0.0 - 0.9). TSH is fine, fT4 is fine, fT3 is normal, but lower than it had been previously. I've also been gaining weight rather quickly for the first time in my life (32 yrs old). I had my selenium levels checked a few months ago and they were fine. Plus, I was taking 25 mg Iodoral and 2-3 brazil nuts every day. Any more ideas??
