Best to you,
Hi RSAgirl, I have no idea what is causing your hair loss, it would certainly seem from the chain of events that the iodine has something to do with it. Ginagirl is correct that hair loss can indeed be a hypo-t symptom and it is a fact that iodine supplementation may bring on a state of transient hypothyroidism. Brownstein states in the post I've copied below that that state of transient hypo or hyperthyroidism lasts only a short time though.
What sort of diet do you eat? Iron-deficiency anemia is common in people with celiac disease:
And, re:the heavy bleeding. Did you start the supplements in hopes of alleviating the heavy bleeding or are the supplements CAUSING the heavy bleeding, I'm unclear on that. Because as i am sure that you know that heavy bleeding will bring on a state of anemia. You should really read the info in this link on that issue:
Here's another link with lots of info:
I'm sorry that you are going through this:( Hopefully we can help you figure it out...
Well, I like cod liver oil. I use Carlson's although that is not thought to be the "best", it's merely good:) The best is reputed to be a fermented cod liver oil that you can find through www.westonaprice.org . You might find some inspiration in "ndul"s posts, here's a link. I've copied an "RN" post. Search the term "cod liver oil" on this forum, others have used it with good results.
