Chocolate can cause acid reflux as well. HV is right candida can produce ammonia or aceteylhyde which can contribute to acid reflux. The reason why Apple cider vinegar might help people is it might help to nuetralize some of the ammonia or other gases that candida/bad bacteria produces.
Cargo, easy brother... there is a way to prove people wrong by being a little more diplomatic about it. On occasion everyone will make a post that was rushed or little off base. But i definetly dont post just for the sake of posting and please dont come to sweeping generalizations based on an occasional post that has some holes in it. I dont thrive off of proving people wrong or thrive off of conflict, but dont want to see people go down the road of trying "everything" and making their condition worst. No one has all the answers thats why were here on this forum trying to help each other out. Even some reasearch that is science based can have some holes in it. People have to do their research and figure out what is going to work best for their own particuliar situation.
Ok that posting was rushed. What I meant is chocolate can be a worst offender than others. Ammonia can be "deodorized" by acetic acid in which ACV contains. But this would not apply with people that have acid reflux unless thay had an abundance of ammonia producing bacteria/yeast in the stomach.
So what your saying is the acetic acid in ACV might be reducing some of the fermentatation-- which can reduce some acid reflux?
Ammonia may be conveniently deodorized by reacting it with either sodium bicarbonate or acetic acid. Both of these reactions form an odourless ammonium salt.(wikipedia)-- But the reaction in the human body might differ---
Here is some on topic info:
Coffee, tea, and other drinks that contain caffeine
Caffeine can relax the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), allowing stomach contents to reflux into the esophagus.
Chocolate
Chocolate contains concentrations of theobromine (a compound that occurs naturally in many plants such as cocoa, tea and coffee plants), which relaxes the esophageal sphincter muscle, letting stomach acid squirt up into the esophagus.
Fried and fatty foods
These foods tend to slow down digestion, keeping the food in your stomach longer. This can result in increases pressure in the stomach, which in turn puts more pressure on a weakened LES, allowing reflux of stomach contents.
Tomatoes and tomato-based products
These foods relax the lower esophageal sphincter (LES).
Alcohol
Alcohol relaxes the lower esophageal sphincter, allowing the reflux of stomach contents into the esophagus. It also increases the production of stomach acid.
Tobacco
The chemicals in cigarette smoke weaken the LES as they pass from the lungs into the blood.
Large meals
A full stomach can put extra pressure on the lower esophageal sphincter (LES), which will increase the chance that some of this food will reflux into the esophagus.
Citrus fruits and juices
These foods relax the lower esophageal sphincter (LES).
Eating within 2 to 3 hours prior to bedtime
Lying down with a full stomach can cause stomach contents to press harder against the LES, increasing the chances of refluxed food.
"A better idea would be more thinking, reading, and observing, and less writing". The problem is ive probably exhausted myself by doing too much reading, and thinking. What im observing is a lot of people going down the wrong path like i did at first and the reason for so many posts is that i dont like to see people get suc***ed into all this BS out there. I worked in the vitamin industry for quite some time and was just amazed at all the quackery and claims out there. My health has been comprimised because of trying almost everything out there. I just dont want to see people go down that road. If thats your definition of "watering down posts" than so be it---ill cut down my posts. My intention is not to water down posts but dont want to see people's health be compromised. I'll be more selective.
Why are you being so offended with what i said about HV? You think i was seriously attacking HV. Sorry, if that was the way you interpeted it. I was appreciating what HV has said in the past. You want me to admit that I appreciate HV posts i will. I agree with just about all his posts and wish he was on the forum more often because he tells people how it is. But some people get offended with his posts and get personal with him. Its this getting too personal with people that can contribute for them to go elsewhere. Personal matters should be handled with individual texts, not put on public display. I think its rather immature to try to spend a lot of time and effort getting personal with someone through analogies and other detailed methods. Almost makes me wonder if these kind of personal comebacks are related to people that thrive off of conflict/proving people wrong. Sounds like insecurites within. Opening personal discussions/comments on a forum can "water down" forums as well.
Sorry, I guess im being compulsive in the manner of trying to help people. I would like to see more people like HV and yourself cargo-- posting. Some of the people that have been on this forum for a while i havent seen in a while. Too bad when people get cured or much better that they dont stick around to help others. But when they start to feel bad again they pop up on the forum again . Hmmm
If there is something personal/get offended with a graphic picture with someone.... a personal text is a better idea than to post it on the forum.
Youre still dwelling on this post? Here let me correct my statement if I will : "Candida can produce carbon dioxide and alcohols from the fermentation process that can contribute to acid reflux". Case closed... this court is now adjourned.
Here is a good link on acid reflux. Lists fungus+bacteria being a major cause.
http://refluxdefense.com/heartburn_GERD_articles/introduction-causes-and-symptoms.htmlGases can travel upwards from the small intestines causing issues: (might be minimal though)
http://www.candida-albicans-cure.com/acid-reflux.html
Candida can produce ammonia: Uses ammonia to adjust PH.
http://mbio.asm.org/content/2/3/e00055-11.full Although, ammonia would probably apply more to H-pylori than Candida (Acid reflux speaking). H-pylori can convert ammonia into ammonium which can affect gastric acid. (wikipedia) Instead of typing in acetaldehyde I should have just said alcohols. Forever Peace, Love, happiness, roses, box of chocolates, hugs, unicorns, rainbows, and all that other neat and warm fuzzy stuff. Maybe if I can fix you some of my famous spaghetti (send it your way) it will patch things up. :) Made from scratch, sauce on low heat for 3-4 hours. Reduced to fine perfection!
