I have two Honeywell HEPA filters that I have
run the heck out of for the last two years
to pull as much dust/fibers out of the apt air as
I can. At it's worst, I could utterly clog the carbon
prefilters with morg hairs in ONE day.
[the prefilters are inexpensive, but even so..this was..
depressing..]
The Honeywells were in the 140 dollar range IIRC..
a few years ago..
price now runs in the 180 dollar range..at walmart..
The filters are on my MEL..[minimum equipment list]..
a must have..like a stove and a toilet.
Am makine some progress with the fiber/dust horde.
These days I can go a few weeks of hard use before
the prefilters start clogging.
** Lesson here: dont air dry laundry with box fans
when the tap water is loaded with fibers.
[the dryers in the apt complex laundry room were
utterly useless..was "saving money" by air drying with
box fans.
...fibers in the wash water end up on the clothes..get blown around by fans..
every load of laundry..more fibers.
It was getting really bad..dust bunnies?..I had fiber
gorillas drifting everywhere. One day I find that the
brush that I had bolted to a table leg for the cats to
use was utterly covered in brightly colored fibers.
??? from where? I wear whites and khakis..and no carpet!
[...now I know it was a massively multiplayer mOrg assault..the kitties were picking up the fibers..scraping
them off on the "kitty brush"..and the things were multiplying like mad..]
For a while I was utterly baffled where the huge amounts of fibers
were coming from. Lesson learned. I now schlep the laundry to the laundromat that has much better equipment
than this sorry apt complex. HOT dryers..with filters
that work. Have also read that dryer sheets like
BOUNCE tend to screw up the morgs..apparently they don't
like being coated with whatever plastic that aerosols in the dryer from the BOUNCE sheets. True? Internet BS?
*shrug* dang if I know..I am now using BOUNCE in the dryer.
