Everytime I drink coffee with sugar in it, I have an episode...stomach spasms and leaky gut issues. Is it the caffeine that is the problem or could it be the sugar? Maybe both? It seems like when I drank coffee with Erythritol in it I had less problems but not sure. Any thoughts or experiences from anyone?
The caffeine in coffee weakens the adrenals leading to increased inflammation in the body due to lower levels of anti-inflammatory corticosteroids. Tannins in coffee also bind nutrients needed for healing and the oxalates in coffee are tissue irritants. So I would say coffee is worse.
I have been following your posts and you seem to have a lot of wisdom. Quick question- do you think one cup of coffee a day is enough to do the harm you mentioned? I used to have a serious coffee addiction which broke down my adrenals and messed me up badly. I was able to cut down to one weak cup per day, but if I go below that I completely crash into a depression.
One weak cup of coffee daily is not likely going to cause any problems unless your adrenals are already extremely weak to begin with. The reason I say this is because as the adrenals become weaker this decreases the ability of the body to deal with stress responses. This in turn leads to more stress further weakening the adrenals. This can become a downward spiral if the adrenals are not strong enough to rebound from these times of being overworked.
Balancing out your stressing the adrenals with natural vitamin C sources, pantothenic acid sources and adaptogenic herbs will help the adrenals from completely crashing.
