Have you heard of such a thing?
My brother says when he drinks to much, the tip of his nose gets bright red, and starts to hurt. Do you know if is this true? And what he can do to help it?
Yes, our idiotic gin loving Mayor is a great example of this. Cannot wait until the fool is out of office!!!!
The condition is known as rhinophyma and can be associated with rosacea. The cause of rosacea is not known for sure. There are a few theories though. One is a viral infection and the second is that it is linked to low stomach acidity. Alcohol makes it worse since alcohol further dilates the blood vessels. Rhinophyma results from the enlargement of the sebaceous glands in the nose and cheeks causing enlargement and a bumpy look.
Quitting the alcohol would be a great start.
I also recommend focusing on increasing stomach acid. This includes bitters, zinc, B vitamins and TMG. For the B vitamins I would go with rice bran to also provide silica for the blood vessels.
Natural vitamin C sources will also help with the blood vessels as well as rutin sources like watercress and buckwheat.
Cool, he got mad at me because I was joking that he probably has herpes...is it possible to have herpes on the nose?
Yes, definitely.
There use to be a product called Simicort, which was a topical licorice root ointment. But I don't know if it is still even on the market. If so this would be my choice topically.
Hey!
I don't know if it could help but I found that some months ago, when seeking a remedy for my f***** rosacea :
Magic Herbal Recipe for
Red Nose Syndrome
Source
Zhu, Su et al., Prescriptions for Caring All People, the
Ming Dynasty.
Actions and Uses
This recipe is good for red nose syndrome with pain,
redness, and swelling of the nose. The original book
recorded that once a patient “took this formula for three
times and he was totally cured. The root of the disease
was removed.” It can also be used for rosacea.
Ingredients
Trumpetcreeper
(Flos Campsis)
Lingxiaohua
Cape Jasmine Fruit
(Fructus Gardeniae)
Zhizi
Preparation and Form of Use
Combine and grind the ingredients into powder. Take 6
grams of the herbal powder with tea after a meal, twice
a day. Pregnant women and those with deficiencies in
the blood and vital energy should avoid it.
Explanations in Chinese Medicine
Flos Campsis can clear away heat, remove blood stasis,
and has detoxification effects. The formula can remove
wind and heat, cool the blood, eliminate blood stasis,
and alleviate pain. Because the herbs in this formula
can cool the blood and remove blood stasis, pregnant
women and those who have weak physical conditions
(with blood and vital energy deficiencies) should not
take it.
I never tried it, but who knows...
What do you think Hv?
I don't know. I have worked with a number of Chinese herbs, but never those. So I don't know about their actions or safety.
