I would enjoy seeing a support forum for ex-christians. In the beginning of leaving the belief system, there is much need for support. As an ex-christian myself, I know this all too well. I would prefer this not to be in a debate format but rather in a serious support structure for those who need it and would benefit greatly.
The forum could simply be called Ex- Christianity Forum .

I agree with you... this would likely be true for anyone of any faith leaving their "religion" though. Tough, especially if one is surrounded in their lives by those that believe you should remain in the "click"... "group"... and apply peer pressure to one degree or another.
"Religion" is kind of like a drug, in that one usually has to break completely away from their social circle in order to become and "ex", whatever.
This is true in Science circles as well... especially with "faith" based science... a strong unyielding belief in a scientific theory... even in the face of other Science work that raise doubts.
So yes, there is a strong need for support.
I suspect the "disagree" votes are an emotional response and I would ignore them.
One of my favorite, all time sayings...
"religion gets in the way of our relationship with God"
No truer words have been spoken as far as "religion" goes IMO.

Apparently you do as canbe seen by your posting history where you follow me around like my own little stalker pet.
You and your numbered friend both like to take turns attacking the messenger. You both have similar "attack the messenger" styles. Perhaps the same person. Mod care to check?

Correct. I have seen this over and over, this attacking and insulting behavior from him and the numbered one. Anyone with a mind sees it. It goes against debate etiquette, but continues incessantly.

Are people who disagree with, Christianity, or various aspects of it demented... not necessarily... any more than a believer of Christianity may or may not be.

"Atheists" have no belief in God to begin with - so there is no "God" in the relationship. If there were a belief in "God" to begin with, then yes, I would agree with your statement.
It takes a belief in "God" to begin with, to then convolute that belief with any said religion, peer pressure, social conditioning, what-have-you.
However, it is important to realize IMO, that an individual does not need "religion" to have, and exercise "their" faith, or to believe in God... nor do they need "religion" to know right from wrong, good from bad, etc.
All "religions" in general, believe in a higher power of one sort or another (identified by different names - but all essentially the same thing)... philosophies, such as Zen, believe in the individual effort... and one's ability of one to attain a higher level/state of being.

If an ex-christian does not/did not believe that God came to Earth in the form of Jesus, then they really did not have a Christian belief system to begin with.
Of course there will be mental distress because their views were not of Christianity....in that case, leaving "the belief system" would alleviate the struggle in their mind because they do not feel insync.
Like attracts like.
The difference is that christianity and some other belief systems believe that God's Spirit indwells.....and the person themselves are not gods nor are they themselves the higher power.
Believing that oneself is a god, is of the "man of lawlessness" spirit. "...he sets himself up in God’s temple, proclaiming himself to be God.
2Thessalonians 2:3-4
You and I both know what God's temple is....our bodies.
My thought is that if one believes they are god...they shouldn't really need a support forum....should they?.

This is a reply to # 1,566,306I didn't realize you even thought there was a satan....and in case you don't then I can see where the above makes sense to you that believing in God is no big deal.
Getting to know God personally and believing in Him is where christian beliefs are coming from. We seek Him because nature points us to a Creator....we find Him once we allow a personal relationship.....we keep Him in our hearts once we are convinced and have faith. :)
