My own experiences:
I have had Lyme for what I would estimate is going on 15 yeras. Was first diagnosed back in 02, although tests were negative. Treated with the standard Doxy, on for 4-6 weeks, and after that symptoms returned within 24 hrs. So back on for another 6 weeks of antibiotix, which the physician told me was all he could do for me, and sent me on my way to 8 years of --- well, most of you can probably guess what that was like. Interesting,to say the least.
I started going significantly downhill again last fall. Got in to see a LLMD, who wanted to treat me on the spot. My tests was positive for the Lyme band. No other coinfections that we know of, but lets face it, the tests are highly inaccurate, and there may well be many more infections out there that go with Lyme, that there are not presently known nor are there any tests available for.
I was started on high doses of Tetracycline and felt like a different person in a day or two. And then found out about Teasel Root, which I added to my
Antibiotic therapy.
There is the belief by some, including me, that there is nothing out there presently that can truly COMPLETELY kill off the spirochetes/cysts -- that once you've acquired the infection, much like Herpes, it stays in the system roosting with the possibility of resurfacing at any given time.
What I have read and experienced is that ingesting Teasel Root does not kill the Lyme. It makes your body inhospitable over time to the Lyme -- the infection exits out b/c it no longer feels welcome - it's like your body vibration and environment changes in such a way as to become unappealing to the bacteria.
The belief is that Teasel should be administered for upwards of at least a year, in very small doses. Like homeopathy, more is less, and from my own experience, this is very, very true.
The recommendation is for:
1 drop 1x day - day 1
1 drop 2 x day- day 2
1 drop 3x day - day 3
2 drop 1 x day/1 drop 2 x- day 4
2 drop 2 x day 1 drop 1x - day 5
and so on until you reach the limit which is 3 drops 3 x daily.
I have found it helpful to take it mixed with a small amount of water, which I then hold in my mouth and swish around for about 20 seconds.
Because of the reality of the body also battling other co infections, it is wise to also be taking other things to help rid yourself of what plagues you, since the Teasel is not a cure all-- but doing so on this side of caution. Often the belief is to go in with the big guns all at once and this is a detriment more than it is not. This journey is alot of trial and error - starting slow and gentle, to see what the results are. Doing so often allows the one to get a better evaluation and gut sense as to what is or isn't working. Going at it with too many things at once is not only setting your immune system back even more, but overloading yourself with more toxins than is necessary. No pain, no gain,in my opinion is a misconception in treating the infection. Slow and steady wins the race. Building your systems and chipping away at the infection is better than jumping in head first, making your self so sick that you cannot bear to continue whatever it is you've been
treating yourself with at mega doses. You need your stength and stamina, and Ijust feelthat if you are herxing all the time, that kind of defeats your ability to maintain that level of stability.
I am also taking a product called AHCC, a supplement that is wonderful and noticable in its effects to help build up the immune system.
Lyme, I believe, hates Copper (and zinc)- which turns out is an antibiotic. So down the road, I am going to ingest some colliadial copper -- same type of dosing set up as with the Teasel Root to see what might come of it.
