Back in September, my primary care doctor had me see the gastroenterologist regarding my fatty liver. The upshot was that basically, all was well in that regard. However, the gastroenterologist said that he was going to recommend that I start taking Actose. I told him that I would rather not take diabetes drugs. He then said, he would leave it up to my primary care doctor---the Actose was just a recommendation since it supposedly helps with fatty liver.
Now...today I had to see the primary care doctor for an issue unrelated to the diabetes. However, the topic did come up. We discussed my weight loss (12 pounds this year), my diet (mostly vegan), my exercising (3 times a week on the treadmill, a mile each session) and my blood Sugar levels (generally in the 120s to 130s). She agreed that my A1C level was within normal range, even though it has creeped a bit upward in the last 6 months. Then she suggested I start taking Glucophage. I told her I'd rather not and that first I would like to see if I can make progress using diet and exercise.
Of course, I didn't tell her about the supplements I'm also taking because I knew the answer would be predictable --- and that is, don't take them. FWIW, I'm taking cinnamon, gymnema sylvestre, prickly pear cactus, green tea extract, and a vegetarian probiotic.
So...my question is...what criteria should I use when deciding that, despite all my good efforts, it would be time to start meds? Is there a tipping point? If so, what it is it? How long should I continue to hold off the doctor when she tries to put me on meds?

The tipping point is when you believe someone outside of you knows more about your body than you do.
I've seen this so many times .. someone goes to the medical doc, gets some tests, the tests come up badly .. however, they take the tests again a few weeks later and the reading is very different.
The body is in a constant state of flux ... it's not a static vehicle but driven by the amount of energy that is flowing through you. This energy changes constantly based on your emotional state and the nutrition you ingest.
Diabetes is a symptom of the learned thoughts that lead to disabling emotions, that in turn lead you to act out (eat) in a certain way. The body is a wonderful vehicle to manifest symptoms to realise consciously what we are doing energetically (via our thinking and emotions). What we eventually choose to eat is a symptom. What manifests as bodily dis-ease is a symptom.
Diabetes is all about running out of Love. You can change the word Love for Sugar and you will understand why those that feel so attracted to sweet things are really trying to nourish themselves with Love. Diabetics are unable to accept love and absorb it. They give love but find it hard to receive. It's only learned behaviour, and that can be easily changed when one is willing to do so.
You have a lot of wisdom BlueRose, I've read many of your posts, you're a wonderful lady ... it's time to turn that innate wisdom you have on and be more compassionate to yourself.
Instead of asking for some logical answer using your brain as a filter ... pose those questions to your heart - this is how:
1. Write down the questions you want answers for
2. Sit quietly, deep breathe in and out of your nose for a few minutes
3. Now, imagine these questions as a ball of white light in your mind/brain
4. Drop this ball of light down into your heart centre.
5. Listen to your heart, it will know exactly what is best for you in this moment
6. Keep a notepad handy and write down the answers ... they may not come immediately, but over the next few weeks you will gain lots of insights. And sometimes these insights will come through others ... you might feel drawn to reading a particular book or something might just grab your attention ... solutions come in many forms.
Trust that you have more inner wisdom and knowledge about you than anyone else. Seek your own wise counsel.
Some of the questions you might like to ask your higher self through your heart centre .. "What is blocking the flow of energy through my body? Where do I need to clean up my emotions? What lifestyle changes would be helpful?" etc.

This is a reply to # 1,540,799Maya --- Yet another wise post from you! Thank you! One reason that I'm not willing to give and take meds is that due to doctors and nurse practitioners not listening to me for the last 20 years, I lost a lot of time that could have been used to get and stay healthy.
20 years ago, I had my gallbladder removed. It didn't surprise me as this runs in the family. Before it was removed, I had developed IBS-D. It worsened after the gallbladder came out. IBS-D kept me from eating more fiber and excercising. Yet when I went to the doctor/nurse practitioner I kept being told to eat properly and exercise. I would explain the whole IBS-D problem and then be told to eat more fiber and not get stressed. Then I would say that fiber worsened things and it didn't matter whether I was stressed or not. This was always met with a shrug. So...we went round and round until I stopped asking.
Last year, when I was diagnosed as type 2, I went through the whole IBS-D thing with the doctor. This time things were different. She had spent several months battling cancer and that experience made her more sympathetic and a better listener. She prescribed a medication that immensely helped the IBS-D symptoms. Before that, I read that adding 2 teaspoons of flaked coconut to my diet would help --- and it did!
Now, I'm working hard trying to make up for those lost years. Thus I'm not willing to give into meds that easily.
I know this is long---sorry! However, I really like what you had to say and will try that --- it all made a lot of sense. Again, thank you for your words of wisdom!
