I just went with someone to visit their family member in the hospital. She is in liver failure, on a waiting list and barely 40 years old. After a lifelong battle with alcohol, the wrong foods and lifestyle (late nights etc) one can see what happens when we don't respect our livers.
We take this mere 3 - 3 1/2 pound organ for granted, hauling ingestible insults at it every day in the form of fried foods, alcohol, pain pills, prescription and recreational drugs not to mention staying up late through the night to party or burn the midnight oil.
We take lightly the sayings of our parents when we hear "An apple a day keeps the doctor away" and "Early to bed and early to rise". Most of us on CZ who follow this forum know why. Apples keep the gallbladder and liver happy with the malic acid and early to bed lets the liver repair & regenerate itself during 11pm-2am while we are sleeping.
With pollution and pesticides in the air, water and food we eat, we must be ever vigilant to protect, cleanse and heal our livers. This has indeed opened my eyes to keep the healing process something which I must do daily.... for the alternative is not something any of us want to endure.
