Your friend is absolutely correct. There are so many options out there these days for divorce it's not even funny. My now X husband and I divorce about 3 years ago. My sister told me about a company that made it so simple. All she did was print, sign and file. Her husband didn't even have to attend court to finalize the divorce. They prepared her to represent herself in court. No lawyer, no lawyer fees. Can't be beat and totally legal. Changed my life...

The Bass player and singer of my band 20 + years ago all of the sudden wanted a divorce. I can't remember the details but I think he just went down to the court house and got the necessary papers. He and his wife filled out the paper work and that was that. Almost a non issue.

Works great if you both aren't arguing over who gets what. In that case I would get an Arbitrator. Otherwise the Lawyers will take everything.
