Are you still taking other Amino's or a Whey Protein with Amino's?
It was kind of a strange discovery that I finally made the connection to, because the ND has had me taking different Amino acid stuff to get the liver working better. I hadn't realized that the Glutamine and Ornithine had been in the supplement I told you about, but they weren't in the powdered amino product by the same company.
I know Glutamine is one of the amino acids they say is needed for Glutathione production, and I have taken it individually before--but it's probably been 2 months since I've had it. At first, when I discovered that it was not in the powdered mix, I thought I probably needed it...so I took it individually...along with the extra NAC, TMG, and Taurine. And had a definite "zombie" reaction. It was very noticable within about 1/2 an hour to an hour after taking them!
But, for the last month also, I've been taking the homeopathic series for 3 Lyme co-infections...plus another homeopathic series for the Rocky Mtn Spotted Fever that goes with the Lyme's too. I knew I had been very sick 40 years ago from a tick, and had had RMSF then, but I was surprised when the ND found the Lyme co-infections for what I needed to be dealing with (biofeedback computer testing, and muscle testing both showed it)
2 more times, I took the individual aminos, not sure if it was the Lyme's being hit, or the aminos.
I finally decided it was the aminos, but took them by themselves, with time in between to see how I reacted from each one of them.
It was very noticable--and no doubt that it was the Glutamine! So, I got out the Andrew Cutler book, and started re-reading what he said about the aminos...and I had read it before, but it didn't hit me at the time...he was talking about that if you react to Glutamine--it's from ammonia (he says bacteria in the gut)...but then wondering about ammonia with Lyme's, already knowing it goes with parasites/candida---sure enough, ammonia is the #1 neurotoxin associated with LYmes...and if the liver is already sick from specific things, the ammonia doesn't get converted in the sick liver like it's supposed to.
THEN it all started making sense...it was a definite brain reaction I was having to the glutamine--zombied out, is the best way I can describe it. The glutamine had been in the one Amino supplement..but then I realized that Ornithine also was in it.
L-Ornithine is what the liver needs to be able to convert the ammonia to urea for it to be eliminated. The other thing I was reading, is aspartates help clear out ammonia. I immediately ordered both from http://www.iherb.com
They have L-aspartic acid, or it's in the Magnesium/potassium aspartate.
One other thing I learned..is that Hulda says to take Arginine during the day, Ornithine at night for insomnia...but I've now learned that Arginine will make it worse if you have any of the Herpes family viruses (including Epstein Barr, and Cytomegalovirus)..and that it shouldn't be taken with an ammonia condition...so just get the straight Ornithine.
We'll see if it makes a difference--what I'm mostly paying attention to is the liver- because I've had to keep doing Liver Flushes
once a week, no more than 2 weeks apart- with stones continuing to form in my liver (no gallbladder)...the liver is supposed to be one of the places the ammonia will accumulate if it's not eliminated--along with the brain, heart and gums.
What makes me curious also--is the gum thing, because I've had to deal with gum infections too, and thought I was getting them cleaned up, after having the deep pocket cleaning, and the wisdom teeth surgically removed that were causing chronic gum infections...and I have to have cleanings every 3 months to stay on top of the infections. This last one was bad again!
That makes more sense to me too, because from what I've been reading, the ammonia/toxin can remain long after the parasite/lymes/candida/bacteria is killed. I've killed a big load of parasites
over the past year and 1/2...they are pretty much cleaned up now, but there was candida along with it. Now the Lymes.
My liver would have a hard time being well, if it's still not well--and still being bombarded with ammonia.
I don't think taking the L-Ornithine by itself will cause an amino imbalance. I think it's an important amino that has been over-looked in all of this. I knew to take it when killing the large parasites
(tapeworms etc)...but I wasn't having the insomnia/anxiety alot of people get that is associated with ammonia, so didn't think I needed it--until I had the reaction from the Glutamine and made the whole connection. Ammonia turns into glutamine in the brain--so there's an over-abundance of it.
I was reading on the Cutler information too, that most autistic people have high ammonia levels--and many times, glutamine will put them into a rage.
I continue to learn something new in this daily. Pretty interesting.
