Last Saturday at 2am, my husband (31 yrs old) had pains so severe that we got him up off the floor and rushed to the ER. 6 hours later it was determined that he had gallstones. They wanted to schedule surgery to remove his gallbladder ASAP. As much as the medical world is passionate about their thoughts on surgery and "just remove it or medicate it”, we knew that was not the answer for us and decided to take the pain medication, go home and review all of our options.
Background: For the past 4 years his sgot & sgpt were on a steady scary rise. My husband has not had a drop of alcohol in his life. We went to several different doctors and no one had any clear answers explaining why the levels were on the rise and we never received a diagnosis. During that time we added a lot of herbal supplements to our diet. Increased fiber and did 2
parasite cleanses (and passed some parasites). About 2 years ago, I bought a book- The
Liver Cleansing Diet, by Dr. Cabot. We made a few more dietary changes, but still didn’t give up the Ice Cream,
Sugar and almost daily desserts. During all of those doctors’ visits, no one ever mentioned gallbladder?
Now that we are home from the hospital- He was instructed to drink 7-up, water, chicken broth (bouillons) and eat jell-o.
He followed instructions and had another pain attack. Not to mention a fever and jaundice. Thank GOD for this website and everyone that has shared their experiences. After 7 hours of surfing on Sunday, we decided to start with high volumes of Organic Apple Juice for 2 days, and then followed on the 2nd day at bedtime, with the juice of 1 lemon+ 4oz
Olive-Oil + 8
ounces of purified water. What a great start. Day 2 on the juice he passed about 50 black & greenish stones the size of rice and peas. The morning after the oil & lemon he passed another 50 the size of peas. The fever and jaundice left, and you could see the white in his eyes again. It is sad that it takes an emergency to stop us from eating
Sugar and ice cream- talk about a new motivation. We are on day 6 of our 8-week
Liver Cleansing diet. I decided to follow the diet and do each cleanse with him now that I clearly understand that we all can benefit from them. He was 250lbs, and as of today is 238. We both wanted/needed to lose weight and this eating plan keeps us from feeling deprived.
We went to our doctor for the follow up visit from the hospital. Our doctor said your eyes look great. My husband explained what we did (the cleanse) and our plans for the next few weeks. Much to our surprise we were pleased to hear our doctor respond with "That is great, I will have to refer my patients to you, I want to know more...."
He also agreed to send our passed stones to a lab for testing.
For the next cleanse, we plan to do the one with the Epsom salt. We hope that after several cleanses and 8-10 weeks when he goes to the specialist that the test will show that his liver levels will be lower or NORMAL!!!
Thanks again to everyone for sharing their experiences, it gave us the knowledge and confidence to "not rush to surgery because of pain and fear, but to make educated healthy choices that work for us.... Till the next flush...
