Hi sorry I didn't know some people with TMAU can just have bad breath. I still think the genetic primary form you will have a strong bodily odor from childhood. If you get tested for secondary make sure and get tested 3 times. Usually the results come out negative one time and positive another. So even after testing you are none the wiser. That is why getting genetic testing is probably better and should be able to tell you one way or another. However genetic testing is quite expensive and there is no cure as yet. Some people say a low choline diet helps, some it doesn't seem to make any difference.
You could go to doctor/dentist and mention the tonsil stones and see if you need to get your tonsils out. I have read of people getting their tonsils out but were really disappointed as it didn't help. So please look into a lot before taking that route.
Would be interesting if anyone here has had genetic testing for TMAU and could give you information first hand. Where to get tested and how much it costs etc. That would benefit everyone on this site.
Lastly diet seems to help a lot of people, low choline, non dairy, vegetarian, detox diets etc are all supposed to be good.
