an ice age could happen literally overnight and change ev3erything. global warming could actually trigger an ice age.

THE last ice age 13,000 years ago took hold in just one year, more than ten times quicker than previously believed, scientists have warned.
Rather than a gradual cooling over a decade, the ice age plunged Europe into the deep freeze, German Research Centre for Geosciences at Potsdam said.
Cold, stormy conditions caused by an abrupt shift in atmospheric circulation froze the continent almost instantly during the Younger Dryas less than 13,000 years ago – a very recent period on a geological scale.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,229,837the gulf stream sustains europe's temperate climate, unnaturally warm for its far north placement. if that shuts down or alters europe will be thrown into a massive and devestating ice age.
polar melting creates lots of cold fresh water that mixes into the ocean, this could disrupt or shut down the gulf stream and trigger an ice age. its not that complicated.
another mechanism is this - global warming creates more rainfall world wide, this leads to more snow fall this leads to longer winters and heavier ice packs.

This is a reply to # 1,229,876None of this proves global warming and in particular anthropogenic global warming, in fact almost all statistics prove warmer global temps have ceased a decade ago !
So I suppose in light of your reasoning global warming is causing the recent record low temperatures across the globe!

This is a reply to # 1,229,801For all intents and purposes the cyclic 11k - 13k year coming ice age has been predicted for a long time.
Global warming hasn't been incited as a cause and there are certainly more factors than the gulf stream to consider regarding an ice age.
The resulting change of an alleged discontinuation of the gulf stream is not limited an ice age.
Speculation is pure media fodder.
Considering that the CO2 is the basis of man made global warming and that CO2 is regarded by the same branch of Science to be a +ve feedback mechanism.
Why has it been shown that mean temperatures throughout geological history have remained consistently (apart from the cyclic ice ages)the same while a reduction in CO2 has has followed linear reduction from concentrations as high as 7000ppm and the fossil record has shown these to be times of prolific plant and animal diversity.
An ice age, if it were to occur would certainly tie up large quantities of the earths water in the newly formed ice fields thus making more land available as sea levels drop and change the face of all earths continents.
The redistribution of weight over land is also something that would need to be considered. Where billions of tons of water once existed for instance, if we are being hypothetical, would the land mass not rise due the the change in pressure differential and unpredictably change the face of landmass on earth.
The reality is that none of this is predictable, just guesswork.

MoreThis is a reply to # 1,230,028yes its speculation, but i think its wise to keep in mind the ice age thing. in the past they thought an ice age took hundreds of years to develop very slowly and gradually. not so.
its good to keep in mind.

More of the same scare tactics that encourages the populace to embrace big brother and the New Global Order !

This is a reply to # 1,230,107Fact is - all evidence does suggest there will be an ice age - but when and how quickly is as much a mystery as my dogs penchant for soap.
The main reason many doubt media driven factoids on global warming or ice age theory is the claimed accuracy of the information provided.
As mentioned - we don't know when or how quickly a new ice age will arrive so what is the point in speculating; we apparently along with a world full of plants and animals etc have survived the last one and I am sure that there was no planning involved.
Just reactive adaptation.
As for global warming - for example - Lord Monckton alerted the UN March 2, 2007 with a list of 31 errors and exaggerations shortly after launch of the summary in February 2007.
The Document was peer reviewed - supposedly - but how could so many mistakes and exaggerations have taken place if it was?
The supposed expert organization in the world has proven itself to be inaccurate and a promoter of inaccurate information.
The discrepancy between funding research into AGW and so called dissenting views are $50billion to $20million in favour of the agw alarmists research.
My point is that the argument is naturally one sided in favour of the AGW researchers simply because of the funding issue.
Equal funding, Transparent process, publicly accessible debate, equal media coverage, independent body of research for review (non government and non - industry related as much as possible) is what is needed but this sadly is not the case.
Therefore there is not an accurate representation of the data by the mainstream media which can only be politically driven whether you believe it to be a Conspiracy or not, it is being used to ultimately induce fear, change our behavior (control) and for monetary gain through taxation.
Agrofuels now threaten food supplies.
Power restrictions don't exactly promote economic development in any country.
The word Conspiracy can apply equally to government or to any government related group as it can to any group of individuals.
Just read through the pages on this website.
vaccinations, the fda, mercury amalgam, fluoride etc etc etc
Couldn't the fear, control and extra taxation be taken as a Conspiracy against us ! in light of the blatent inaccuracies we have been told are true?

IF this story is real, NASA plans to send two spacecraft to crash into the moon so that 1102 tons of moon fragments, debri, and dust will be released into it's atmosphere. Now, I'm no scientist, but I have no reason to think that this won't make climate matters worse.
