I can't believe what I'm reading. I'm 37 years old, mom of twin 22-month old boys. I had Mirena inserted at my 6-week post birth checkup. The doctor said there were NO side effects, NO reason to have it done. Because we didn't want to have another child any time soon, I agreed to do it.
I have had sleeplessness, leg cramps/restless legs, extreme fatigue and exhaustion, frizzy hair, and almost no sex drive- all of these things mentioned by others on this site. The sleeplessness nearly ruined my life. I quit my job, I argue constantly with my husband, and I feel like I can't make it through the day. I have since gone to see a sleep specialist who has helped me manage my insomnia and greatly decrease it, but I still have days where I wake in the middle of the night, and I still have all of the other symptoms. I had a fleeting thought that it could be the Mirena, and mentioned it to both my primary care doc and the sleep specialist. The sleep specialist said we'd keep that thought "on the back burner" if nothing else worked so I kind of put it out of my mind. I excused away everything else.... the fatigue to a past case of mono, the hair to pregnancy/post pregnancy, etc.
I read all of the information from Mirena and didnt' see any of the side effects listed... another reason I sort of discounted my suspicion.
I'd like to call ASAP to have this removed but am curious to hear more... especially about what I hear referred to as the "CRASH." What is this? should I be concerned? any recommendations? I want so badly to go back to the energetic, motivated person I was. Reading this gives me hope but again, I am concerned about what this Crash may be and how long it lasts.
I'll keep reading past posts for as much time as my two little tots will allow... which isn't much. I will MAKE TIME to read any and all responses to this post!!
thank you so much!!!!!!
