Technically, you're not fasting.
You have ingested something every day.
Lemon juice, senna, supplements,SALT, psyllium etc..
The body has an amazing way of cleaning out the system without your help!
We all want something in our stomachs when fasting, hehe!
Detox symptoms are not always pleasant. The body is cleaning, you may have to expect that it won't be a bed of roses when it gets down to the serious stuff.
Personally I have had this nasty symptom with all of my fasts except the last one.
I just ride it out. My first fast of 17 days was terminated because the reflux was beginning to be unbearable.
Subsequent fasts have been less of a problem with reflux.
I can commiserate, it really is the pits!
If you read the recent posts of HappyHormones, she also had this symptom during her fast.
It seems to be a common symptom of detox for some people.
Things that helped:
Drinking warm to hot water ( nothing added)
Propping up in bed with pillows for sleeping. This way the nastiness doesn't reach your mouth so fast.
Drinking less water. I found that trying to get rid if the reflux by drinking water just made it worse.
Also regarding pains in the legs, etc.
During my third fast I developed an excruciating lower back pain, something I've never had in my entire life.. I thought I had done some damage somehow. It went away in 2 days without any further ado. This was a major detox symptom for me.
Perhaps you are trying too hard with all the additions to your water fast. Sounds like the body would like to detox, but you are still topping yourself up with all sorts of things.
Why not have a break from all these additions and see how you go?
The amazing thing is that the body has wisdom to know what to do, what to clean out, what to fix and mend. If you keep adding things to the fast, you may have missed the point of how the body works to do this.
Let us know how you go.
