I doubt it was a contributing factor although it was the cause of much distress when I thought about it as in the past I would clip my fungal nails.... with my bare hands and touch other things before washing because I didnt see the 'possible' harm.

I am now much more careful and use gloves as previously noted.

I do not think my Acne was linked to the fungus. My skin produced a lot of oil, especially when stressed and was effected by diet to quite a degree. After 2 weeks of Accutane my skin was dramatically improved... now at 6 months its perfect. I can ONLY attribute this to the Isotretinoin therapy.

I asked 2 dermatologists if the fungal nail infection might be a contributor and they both laughed, I didnt see the funny side however. I dont think its likely but not a laughable suggestion in my opinion.

Anyways, I seriously hope it isnt linked. If it is then I am going to have to take Lamisil tablets to kill the fungus as topical treatments wont work quick enough.

My skin was very very oily, it doesnt take an expert to work out that this can cause Acne under the right circumstances. Oily skin alone does not cause acne, its evolutionary that man has oily skin based on their environment. In countries such as Italy and Greece its common for people to have oily skin yet no acne.

What happend with the ending of each of your Accutane courses ???? Did the oil return or was excess oil not an obvious cause ???

We use the Lugol's Iodine (5%). U can check the Iodine forum for success or not. I put it on all my nails and turned up fungus I did not know I had. I think we are pretty clear of it after a couple months now - my friend had huge hunks come out of the nail.

What about special zederna cedarsoles? Have you ever tried this? The wood has enormous antifungal features which helped me very well.
