Can I give the lemonade drink to my 13 year old son..he does athletics & it was suggested that in between competitions for the day he should have a liquid meal before an event instead of solids. Is this drink okay to give to him in morning & afternoon. He does approx 6 events on a saturday or at State competitions.

Can I give the lemonade drink to my 13 year old son?   by Iolite   14 year

Do you mean Grade B maple syrup, fresh lemon and cayenne pepper? I don't see why not as an electrolyte replacement, I'd add a pinch of unrefined salt like Redmond's RealSalt. I've taken that recipe (honey and lemon juice) and married it with the raw apple cider vinegar and raw honey with cayenne recipe to get the added goodness of apple cider vinegar. I understand that black strap molasses is even more packed with nutrients than the maple syrup or honey. You might want to try that too.

I don't think it would be good for meal replacement for an active 13 year old athlete, especially before an event. I'd be worried about blood Sugar crash. I would think a smoothie with protein powder (non soy), fresh fruit, organic raw egg, maybe some chai seeds, green powder and brewers yeast (Lewis Labs brewers yeast is good) would be a a better choice for a meal replacement before a game.
