Do Mean People Suck?

I recently read on Ana's blog, an article from USA Today, entitled "Rudeness, threats make the Web a cruel world": http://www.usatoday.com/tech/webguide/internetlife/2007-07-30-cruel-web_N.htm
My reply:
It wasn't like that when I was a kid. I agree, though, the internet hath spawned a subclass of anonymous beings. But, really, our whole social reality is based on bureaucracy, which creates a "no accountability", "pass-the-buck" society. I believe our "anything-goes" attitude which has come to prevail over the last few years, actually was subject to a backlash with the firing of Imus. It seems to be a cry out of our nation for some normalcy and "brotherly love". I think the state of our economy, along with degradation of the planet by our species, has created a "to hell in a hand-basket" perception current.
Myself, I don't get warm fuzzies as I once did about the world and I am not hopeful in finding a resolution to the seemingly downward spiral mankind has enveloped. I often think, if only I lived elsewhere, things would seem more aloof, but I may have to look long and hard to find the place where "life is a party" again. Losing a precious soul like Tammy Faye to cancer did not support my venture. I am also losing a releative. Disease is representative of our over-populated, over-polluted, under-nourished world; It's like "Elvis, What Happened?" all over again, only worse.
Here is a breath-of-fresh-air song I happened across on youtube that answers the mean people's commentations:
