Day 4 - Post Fast by katiemarie .....

Cabbage & Potatoes

Date:   6/17/2007 1:46:19 AM ( 17 y ago)

Today I had what felt like my first real "meal." I ate it around 4:00 this afternoon. A boiled meal of 1/4 of a head of cabbage and one small yellow potatoe. It was as delicious as I had hoped. I even licked the bowl!  At 8:30 I had the same meal because my stomach felt fine and I was actually hungry again.  I tracked my calories today to see how I'm doing on my 4th day post-fast and it came to approximately 500 calories.  That sounded reasonable to me for my 4th day. For breakfast I had 1/2 a grapefruit and 1/2 cup of fresh pineapple and mango. With my evening meal of cabbage, potatoe and red wine vinegar I had 1/4 cup of cooked mushrooms.   I had a very small amount of butter that I stretched over the two potatoes and mushrooms. Eating has become a joy again that I don't have to feel guilty about because I'm eating the right foods.  My confidence is building and I am not as concerned as I used to be about sabatoging my juice fast weight loss and health.  However, I realize I have to be constantly on guard and watching what I put in my mouth until this has become a habit.

After reading more about Fuhrman I don't think I'll go that route. I want to eat mainly veggies and fruits but I also want some dairy and protein in moderation. I noticed that virtually all the diets I looked into have an all or nothing mentality. They promte one type of food (i.e plant based or animal based) which you can eat all you want. Such as Atkins: eat all the steak, cheese and fat you like but no bread or rice. Or Fuhrman: Eat all the veggies, fruit and beans but no meat, dairy or fat. I know these plans work.  But since I've already done these type of all or nothing diets and gotten smaller and then fatter with them I don't think it's the way to go. Anyway, I'm experimenting so we'll see.
