Memory power by Scott Hagwood

Here are some of the memory tricks I learn

1.Positivity--believe that your brain is really amazing
2.SEA to see(create pictures/experiences)--maximise memory ability "glow to grow"
S--Senses E--Emotions A-actions
3. Law of association and interest
3.Learning process 2 steps:
(I)process information correctly (at least stored in short-term memory)
(II) take a 15 min break and retest (transfer from short to long-term memory)
4. Repeating--1 hr, 1 day, 1 week, 1 quarter a year, avoid rote learning at best (too straining)
5. Roman Room
6. memory killers: stress, lack of sleep, lack of attention

List
Names and faces
Numbers--numerical to alphabet code
Journalling--test with element box(which SEA do I use most?) and keyword chart

I braced myself for my first family counselling session today and it is by far the roughest thing I have to endure this week. It is perhaps 1000000 times more nauseating, infuriating, expasperating, torturous than fasting just to sit opposite two people who continued to gesticulate, scold, condemn, threaten, rave and rant at me even in front of the counsellor. At the beginning, I teared quietly but immediately sobered myself so nobody saw the tears. In the middle, I wanted to quit and walk out of the room, even though i knew other counsellors were watching and listening behind the one-sided mirror. Finally, I just resigned and spoke firmly. Throughout the whole 1 hr, I was very composed, spoke only when necessary and adopted a shrewd air. The contrast in my parents' behaviour and mine was so stark, it was embarassing to think I had any associations with these two despicable people.

They were not apologetic--at all-- for beating me up intensively and frequently over the span of one year. My father flaunted the supersitious things he hid in my belongings without my permission, saying that he had plenty more. My mother wrote a letter discrediting my boyfriend to be lesser than human. They wrote an ultimatum to
1. Disown me
2. Disallow me to step into the house
3. Cut off my medical school fees
4. File a missing person's report
5. Hunt me down with airport security.

I am very discouraged I do not know what words can sufficiently describe how I feel. I will continue with the counselling but I am contemplating taking steps to be more independent.

I am not worried about my friends because I know they are rallying behind me and understand that the circumstances that I am facing is not a joking matter. However, everybody hopes things will look up.

I am concerned about medical school.
Medical school concern:
1. They are worried that my family problems would aggravate my eczema and cause strain my studies.
Solution:
1. Tuition Fee loan (application close in June)
2. NUS Study Loan (application close in June)
3. TKC Scholarship (application in August)
4. TKC Bursary (application in August)

I am perturbed about my finances if I move out.
Perturbations
1. Rental
2.Groceries
3.textbooks
4.if I travel to the US for clinical attachment in year 4
5. travelling
6. worry about repaying my school fees
Solutions:
1. working in my friend's company

I am worried about my bf's safety.
worries:
1. parents will harass him
Solutions:
1. obtain a ppo for him
2. obtain a ppo for me and get a court order
