It takes skillpower, not willpower to stay on your diet.

It certainly takes more than meets the eye. A food plan and some willpower just doesn't cut it. Right? How many of you have been there...done that? Here are some of the necessary ingredients (no relation to food).

There are repeated tries. This is a must. Every habit change takes repeated
tries before successes begin to mount up.

A food plan (diet to you) can be a good guide, especially if the food plan
is one that fits with who you are and how you live.

What else? Well, there's willpower, yes there is. But you'll run out of
willpower quicker than you would with skillpower. So go ahead and substitute
skillpower for willpower.

What is skillpower anyway? It's skill at dieting, staying on your diet mostly.
An example of skillpower is knowing how to go right back on your diet after you
cheat. What's the value of this, you ask? You've already cheated, what's the
use? "What's the use" comes under the heading of "I lost my willpower".

Skillpower is knowing that falling off your diet is a chance to practice going
back on. It's also a great opportunity for you to take a look at just how you fall
off your diet. Do you fall off all-the-way or part-way? Do you break out of
your dieting mode entirely and eat all you can eat or do you just help yourself
to something you really desire? As you can see, there is plenty to understand and work on when you have yourself a cheat.

Well, that's it for now. We'll come back again with more about how to stay on your diet. After all, as you well know, adhering to your diet is perhaps the most problematic aspect of weight loss.

Stay tuned for more.
