Back to 1 a day by andib .....

I'm in no hurry

Trying to do 2 packets a day just didn't seem to be working out so well. I'm just too busy after work and end up not able to get the drink mix in before I'm eating dinner. Inevitably I end up after my errands, back at home with something from a drive thru. I try to eat healthier - salads and lite meals rather than cheeseburgers and fries, but I know I'm only fooling myself - all fast food is bad for you. I have replaced many of my foods at home with organic choices - in fact I was surprised at what I found out there: lots of cereal choices, milk, goat cheese, beef and chicken, fruits and veggies, breads, cookies, snacks, chips - the change isn't actually that difficult, it's just a matter of paying attention to what you're buying and reading labels.

Problem is, I am still eating out way too much. So I'm afraid that I'm just throwing the benefits of this cleanse away - I don't exactly know how they work... If I'm still eating 3 meals a day, are the cleansing herbs wasted on digesting and processing the food? I have to eat with the capsules, and I have to make sure I eat enough - the first dose I took of the capsules I took while I was cooking dinner thinking that I would be eating within 5 minutes and that was good enough. Mistake. When it says 'take with food' it isn't joking around. By the time I got around to eating I had terrible heartburn and indigestion and the feeling of something stuck in my throat / chest. Now when I take them I eat half my meal, take the capsules with several large drinks of water, and then eat the rest of my food. That seems to eliminate the feeling that the capsules are trying to come back up.

I decided to just go ahead and stick with the one dose at lunchtime - I still feel as though I'm cleansing and it isn't quite as harsh as 2 doses, I felt really run down and a little sick. I know that is a cleansing crisis but I still have to work and I just wasn't feeling like work. The lady at the herb shop says that 1 dose will still achieve a cleansing, just not as aggressively, she thinks I should stick with one dose and if I choose to do another cleanse in a month or two then I could try the full dosage. And, that's true, I like the way she looks at - maintaining your health and purifying your body is a lifelong commitment, it isn't all done with one 2 week cleanse or one 30-day fast - every effort is a journey, every time I make the choice to do something to cleanse my body or enhance my health it is a journey and an experiment. What I know in my heart is that I'm doing the right thing, might not be the easy thing, but it is that much more rewarding to me because the achievement did not come without some pain and sacrifice.

I was talking to a lady I work with yesterday about this random joint pain I have occasionally and how it moves around - the last 2 days I've had bad lower back pain (which may have been due in part to constipation) - and she asked why I don't see the chiropractor anymore. I originally went to him for shoulder pain and after a few months it moved from my shoulder to my elbow, then to both elbows and down into my hands, knuckles and fingers. It seems to move around my body up and down, he thought it may be rheumatoid arthritis but I don't have the swelling that is usually considered a symptom, just the random pain and joints popping.

So, I told this lady about an article I read on http://www.thedoctorwithin.com about leaky gut syndrom - which is undigested particles of food material leaking through the intestines into the bloodstream and lodging in joints, organs, etc. and causing auto-immune type symptoms, because the body recognizes this foreign substance and essentially begins attacking itself - or the area where the substance has lodged.

She looked at me as if I was from another planet, leaky gut syndrom? why in the world do I buy into that crap? Arthritis is just arthritis...

She asked me if I really believe that stuff and why... I told her it makes sense to me, at least there is something I can do, I can cleanse, I can be healthy, I can make an effort to eat right and exercise - and it may not happen that if I do those things I will never get sick - I might, I might get cancer someday or some other illness, but if I have done my best to keep my body clean and healthy, my immune system will be strong and so much better able to fight off illnesses. Furthermore, when I search for information I find 2 kinds, I find the conventional medical information that says "you have ______ (name your horrible disease), we don't know what causes it or how to cure it, it may be genetic (completely out of your control), we do have a variety of wonderful drugs you can take to try and treat this horrible disease, these are the side effects......"

and I find the holistic information, which says "You are a product of your lifestyle and choices, maybe you haven't made the best ones up until now and you have some problems _______ (name your horrible disease), but there are many things you can do to permanently cure yourself of these afflictions and at the same time promote your health wellness naturally and without side effects..."

Wow! what a difference of opinion there is out there about health and wellnes (or sickness) - I prefer to be the one who sees the glass half full, thank you very much.

Well, time to work.
Have a good day everybody.
