Day 1 by cosprings .....

Day 1 - Starting

Date:   6/9/2006 10:30:04 AM ( 18 y ago)

Just to give you some information about myself - I am a 37 year old male who used to be average weight but I have gained about 40 lbs over the past 5 years. (200 lbs) I am doing the cleanse not to lose weight, but to rid myself of all the toxins in my body. I thought the positive effects of the cleanse would be a good prelude to maintaining healthier eating. I have always been very active (running, hiking, etc) but the past few years I have simply eaten more food than I can burn off through exercise.

I visited the Whole Foods store last night before and got everything I needed to begin today.

I filled up two nalgene bottles of the lemonade / cayenne pepper / maple syrup drink last night and it actually didn’t taste too bad. This is obviously where you get your nutrition from since the maple syrup is quite concentrated with calories. I’m hoping the calories from the drink will keep the hunger pains to a minimum.

I decided on the first day I am going to drink some grapefruit and vegetable juice to supplement the lemonade drink to maintain a decent calorie intake and see how the body responds to no solid food first before becoming too extreme this cleanse.

5:30 - I woke up this morning and had a tablespoon of bentonite clay with some water. I also took 4 psyllium capsules. This should show my colon who is boss.

6:30 - On my 30 minute drive to work I drank the 32oz of water with 2 tsps of sea salt. Between the traffic and listening to the radio, I tried not to focus on how crappy that salt water tasted. Trust me, at 6:30 in the morning, drinking salt water (SW) is nasty. I did feel a little strange – like a very small wave of nausea after finishing the salt water but that only lasted about 20 minutes. I was skeptical it would work as quickly as I had read, but let me tell you it does work -and quick. At 8:15 I was in the men’s room.

I did stop at Starbucks and get a large coffee because I just couldn’t take having a headache from the lack of caffeine this morning. It is still a work day and I have to be able to concentrate. No coffee tomorrow. Just tea.

9:30 – I generally have a yogurt or something small around this time, but I am not hungry. I’m sure that will change. I had some of the lemonade drink and some grapefruit juice. I do feel quite bloated from everything I have drank this morning - other than that I feel normal.

10:45 – I forgot I had agreed to go running at lunch with a co-worker today (4.5 miles) and am thinking this is not a good idea to exercise this much on the cleanse. Screw it I’m going anyway.
