Gagné Foods, Inc., producer of Michael Gagné’s Robinhood Free Meetinghouse 72-Layer Cream Cheese Biscuits, has been selected by the National Association of the Specialty Food Trade (NASFT) as a finalist in the Outstanding Baked Goods, Bread, Cereal, or Grain Category of the 2006 NASFT Product Awards Competition.

Regarded as the premier source for emerging trends in the specialty food industry, The NASFT Fancy Food Awards are the specialty food industry’s most prestigious honor.

“We are heartened by the recognition from the industry for our humble biscuit. Humble though it may be, we firmly believe it is simply the Best Biscuit in the World,” said Michael Gagné, owner of Gagné Foods, Inc.

The light and flaky 72-layer cream cheese biscuits go from freezer to oven to table in 25 minutes. Available in plain or five-herb parmesan, they’re excellent for breakfast, shortcakes, and dumplings.

Available soon, Gagné Foods’ newest product, cinnamon rolls, are made from the same laminated dough as the biscuits. They are an effortless, delicate, and sinfully delicious breakfast, brunch item, or dessert. The classic cream cheese biscuits, five-herb parmesan biscuits, and cinnamon rolls are all available in 6-packs (retail), 12-packs (catalog), and in bulk for bakery and foodservice.

In 2005, over 3,500 products were entered in the NASFT competition. Only six products in each of the 20 categories become finalists. At the New York Fancy Food Show in New York City in July, a panel of distinguished specialty food professionals will select the winner in each category.

Gagné Foods, Inc., dba The Robinhood Free Meetinghouse, founded in 1995, is one of only a handful of five-star restaurants in Maine. Housed in a historic 1855 post and beam church on the coast of Maine, the restaurant has been serving its popular 72-layer cream cheese biscuits for years. Now these delicate, delicious, all natural products are available in an increasing number of stores, including many Whole Foods stores in the northeast and New York, a number of Hannaford stores in Maine, and many specialty food stores. Gagné Foods, Inc. is in the process of building a new factory in Bath, Maine.
