The family is part of the journey too. My husband and I have two older teenage boys who are home this week for spring break. I made sure all of the junkier food was consumed, cleaned out the fridge and cupboards before starting the MC.
I cooked a huge roast for my guys, made a big pan of a casserole they love, bought some fruit and veg they can grab and eat, and made sure there was what we call "freezer food" as well. Even their favorite black bread and cheese for making the ultimate grilled cheese sandwiches. They can heat up or eat cold so many fairly healthful things from the fridge and freezer while I cleanse/fast. I have learned in the past that getting rid of the junk, so as not to be tempted, and then providing things I know they will eat that just don't lure me makes a huge difference in my successful fasting journey. My hubby will be joining me in the fast/cleanse starting tomorrow, but our houseful of teenagers on spring break still have plenty of good food to eat that doesn't require my involvement.
I still remember the very first fast I ever attempted. I think I was 19 years old. I lasted about 28 hours, then broke down and ate a box of captain crunch cereal (which I don't even like) that was in the house. An entire box. Tore my mouth up, made me sick. Fasting and temptation are two very odd things. I always learn so much about myself walking it through.
You know, any of you reading who would like to join in this MasterCleanse/fast time with me are welcome to comment and come along for the ride. Road trips are usually better when we aren't alone, if you know what I mean. Fasting is a really personal journey, but it gains in the sharing.
