30 Day Juice Fast Journey -- Day Nineteen by Dazzle .....

Would anyone think I'm insane if I added five more days to this fast?

Date:   2/3/2006 9:07:21 PM ( 18 y ago)

Today on Day 19 of my 30 day juice fast,  I actually wore a mini skirt I'd not been able to wear for more than five years!  That's half a decade, people!  And my husband told me I have beautiful legs.  So, I floated all day long.  Even when my stomach growled (YES! It actually growled this morning! First time since my digestive system shut down)  I didn't mind because I felt too good psychologically (though I did drink a large juice).  I have accomplished something!  And I still have 11 days to go on this fast, so that's another possible 10 pounds of fugly fat and toxins gone!  Gosh.

I had the most unsual craving today.  Something I've not eaten in, gosh, geez, twenty five years, not that I should have ever eaten this kind of food... a bologna sandwich, with yellow American cheese, mustard and thinly sliced onion.  That's as bad as wanting a glass of wine at 10:00 am, the way I did at the beginning of this fast.  No wait, a bologna sandwich would probably be worse than a glass of wine.  But that's strange, a bologna sandwich.  Something I would not touch with a ten foot pole, if I may be so trite.

I came across this interesting little tidbit about coffee consumption and it makes me wonder.  Because there is the coffee enema that seems to work on stimulating the liver to produce more bile to clean out the ducts and rid the liver of excess toxins... I wonder if this is not related somehow to the below article:
Coffee an anti-cancer Beverage?
By Jill Altenhofen

A ten-year study from the National Cancer Center in Tokyo that reported on the coffee-consumption habits of 60,000 people found that daily coffee drinkers reduced their risk of hepatocellular carcinoma (HCC), the most common type of liver cancer, by almost 50 percent compared with those who never drank coffee. Even an occasional cup could reduce the risk by up to 30 percent, researchers found (International Journal of Cancer, 2005, vol. 116, no.1). Antioxidants in coffee beans are most likely the cause for the decreased risk of liver cancer, says Joe Vinson, PhD, a chemistry professor at the University of Scranton in Pennsylvania who researches antioxidants in foods and beverages.

Before you run to pour yourself another cup, consider that it may be wise to enjoy coffee in moderation—or opt for decaf. Aside from giving you the jitters, caffeine was found in another recent study to increase aortic stiffness, which may heighten the risk of cardiovascular disease (American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, 2005, vol. 81, no. 6).

I ordered two books out of the list I made the other evening in blog message Day 17, they are:

Hooked on Raw by Rhio
Living Cuisine: The Art and Spirit of Raw Foods by Renee Loux Underkoffler

I spoke with my husband about my going RAW for the next month or so and he applauded my idea.  He said he's willing to give it a try, too.  He is also willing to give up his milk (this is am sooooo glad about!) and drink more veggie juices.  He refuses to fast because he's already lean and fears he would be far too thin and he would be. But I explained that once he came off the fast and began eating foods again, that more than likely he would not only put back the weight he lost, but maybe even gain a bit more, because the fast would have rebalanced his metabolism.  But he's just not interested.  He did try to fast with me the first time I did a 30 dayer but was in such agony he stopped at Day Two.  At least he tried and is open minded about my doing it and he is drinking the juices as long as he doesn't have to stop eating.

I know I said I wasn't going to discuss poo poo in this blog, but since hanging out with Julie, our Maiden from Oz, I've been led astray.  <chuckle>  I went and ordered Oxy Powder www.oxypowder.com .  I learned of this product via CureZone and it seems to work a bit differently than the usual bowel cleaners and the testimonies claim almost to the one, that there are no cramps when using this product. Even people who don't have problems with constipation, etc, still manage to clean out more gunk than they thought they had in their intestines and are shocked and pleased with the results.  I have 11 more days on this fast and decided to go ahead and try it.  See how it works with a fast, especially since the claims are no cramping.  I suggested that Julie try it, so if she does, you can get the details from her, because I won't be saying anything more about this after I add the period at the end of this sentence, except to say whether it works as claimed or not.

I can't believe it, tomorrow, Day 20, I will be 2/3s of the way through this 30 day fast.  My detox has not been much at all.  This is why I thought to drop the broths and one juice, so to strengthen the detox.  But my body wants the juices.  Would anyone think I am insane if I added 5 more days to this fast?  Maybe do two days of water fasting then the addition three days of juice fasting for a total of 35 days.  Hmmm... I'm getting ahead of myself... I still have 11 more days until Day 30.  I do hope I detox more aggressively than I have during these last days of the fast.  This Oxy Powder may help with that.

Well enough of that, I'm off to fix some tea and so some more research on the raw food lifestyle.

I hope your dreams are exciting and beautiful...
