30 Day Juice Fast Journey -- Day Seventeen by Dazzle .....
Gawd, the head games I have to play with myself. Am I the only who does this?

I slept like a healthy, robust newborn baby last night. I've noticed my sleep has been so good. Even when I didn't feel so chipper, I still slept deep. Sleeping well is one lovely benefit I have noticed on all the fasts I have done. Has anyone else noticed their sleep has become deeper and more restful as they're juice fasting?
It's a good thing I'm sleeping deep because as I mentioned to Liora Leah in her blog (http://curezone.com/blogs/m.asp?f=356&i=75 ) I've been leery of sleep since I discovered in my early 20s that we sleep a third of our lives away. If we sleep 8 hours a day which is 1/3 of a 24 hour day, then by the time I am 60 years old, I would have been sleeping for 20 years, more actually because as babies and children we sleep longer than 8 hours a day. That sounds too close to a Sleeping Beauty syndrome and unfortunately I don't have a prince to come kiss my sleep away, i.e. give me back those 20 years. Some people may say that I am not sleeping my life way because our bodies need the sleep and because there's a whole other world in the dreams. My response to that is, not if I don't remember the dreams. So, I've tried to sleep less than 8 hours a night, average at 6, just so I can whittle down that 20 years. That just sounds very scary to me. Twenty years asleep. I console myself with the fact that, while twenty years is a long time to be literally asleep, I know so many people who are asleep when they are awake and more than likely will never awaken.
I've not had any broth, fruit or veggie, since I made the broth with Kale this weekend, I believe Day 14 was the last day I sipped broth. I have a half a gallon in the fridge. But I don't think I'm going to drink anymore broth. It's going to be juices, waters, teas and that's all until this fast is over in 13 days. It's funny, I'd thought to eliminate one juice, instead it seems my body wants the juice and less broth. So, that's what I am going to do. Today I was out and about and was at Sweet Bay grocery (it's a fabulous store) and saw this most gorgeous Swiss Chard. I was thinking what our Enchanted Gardener could do with that seductive Swiss Chard on film. The ruffled leaves had to be about a foot long by a half a foot wide, and was the deepest black-emerald green with ruby red veins... I bought some, I had to. It juiced up so well and I could feel the power of it as I drank it. Sometimes I can feel the immediate effects of these green juices. I can't wait until I can try some of those RAW green smoothies I've been reading about during my RAW diet researches.
I need to find another sweetener to use other than honey, so I ordered some Agave nectar today. I've tried Stevia and can't seem to find any that's not bitter. Maybe it's me, but I think Stevia tastes very bitter. I hear Agave nectar is very tasty and versatile. (I need versatile, it works so well with variety). And Agave nectar is lower on the GI scale than honey and sugar. My next mission is to search out a reputable and local organic whole food store for raw foods and raw food ingredients. When I finish writing this, I am going to head out and order a some RAW books I've chosen:
Living on Live Food by Alissa Cohen
Hooked on Raw by Rhio (She's gorgeous, and should do a RAW beauty book!)
12 Steps to Raw Foods by Victoria Boutenko
Green for Life by Victoria Boutenko
Eat Without Heating by Victoria Boutenko
Beautiful on Raw by Tonya Zavasta
Your Right To Be Beautiful by Tonya Zavasta
I think that's a terrific beginning and they should keep me very occupied and intrigued for a while. If there are any books that any of you RAW experts would like to recommend, any faves you live by that's not on this list, please let me know.
Today is Day 17 on my 30 day juice fast journey with 13 more days to go. In three days I will have done 2/3s of this 30 day juice fast. I have a birthday coming up March 19th and I believe the kindest gift I can give myself is a diet of juices, green smoothies and raw, living foods. I've been toying with making myself a deal to help keep me on the Path. The deal would go something like, I give this RAW food lifestyle until March 19th. If, when I reach that date, I don't want to continue for whatever reason I may have, regardless if it's viable or silly, I don't have to continue and I won't beat myself up too badly. That's the deal... take the RAW diet to March 19 and if I don't want to continue, I won't and there will be no self-recriminations. I think a month and a half will give me enough time to be able to see whether or not I enjoy the variety of foods. By taking it to March 19, I'm giving myself light at the end of the tunnel, a way out, a finish line should I need that. And on the flip side, by taking this to March 19 on the back of a 30 day juice fast, I will continue to detox, lose weight and further strengthen my immune system. By then, I will not have eaten cooked foods in two and a half months, which may make getting back to cooked foods more difficult than just continuing with the RAW diet. Gawd, the head games I have to play with myself. Am I the only who does this?
I won't be doing a walk this evening. But that's okay as I know my neighbors behind us have people over and are outside grilling. I just don't wanna smell that!
Ta Ta for now ~
