whats the problem with protein?????

Date:   3/30/2006 3:31:15 PM ( 19 y ago)

i really felt like this week i reached a new level with my wieght loss. another 2 pounds gone which has been my steady loss since the fast. but the exciting thing is i can fit into my jeans that i wanted too and a dress that i have not been able to wear for 8 years. i have carried this dress literally half way around the world knowing it didnt fit me but i always wanted to get back into it. they both are quite tight and still more work to do but it finally feels like i am gettign close to my goal. im beginning to think maybe i need to forget about the scales when it comes to my goal weight. however it is a goal of mine and i want to reach it...not sure if i can let go of the number 140..... but i will work on it. i feel really really good. still not happy about the tummy situation but i know i can lose it. it is constantly hard work and i cant wait until i am in mainteneace mode and not losing.

the weekend just passed was fantastic. i gave myself saturday off exercise and ended up playing tennis just for the fun of it with the family. then on sunday got the whole family motivated and we went on a 2 hour bike ride. it felt so good to be one of the active people out and about. i am so greatful for my health i dont ever want to do anythign to jeopardise that again.

to give you an idea of how my week usually is heres a sample:
mon-friday: i try to have three raw days : breakfast juice, lunch salad, dinner fruit. on raw days i eat as much fruit, veggies, raw nuts and hummus and advocado as i like. (love hummus and advocado!)i may have one day of same but eat a small cooked meal at night something low fat and light. i also try to fast one day juice or water fast.
saturday and sunday: i have juice and/or fruit for breakfast, salad for lunch and whatever i feel like for dinner. which is usually some grilled meat/fish and salad or steamed veggies. or out for dinner. i tend to chose light meals and this is mainly because i know anything rich or creamy would just kill me the next day.
i dont eat any snack food, no potatoes, rice or any cooked white starchy food- this is hard for me especially pasta and bread. i dont drink any sodas or store bought juice only water. (well not counting alcohol). if i am hungry or more to the point peckish i will eat baby carrots and raw nuts.
my alcohol consumption i am trying to limit to one night a week but it is usually two (three on a bad w'end or good depending on which way you look at it!ha!)
exercise i run monday, tuesday, thusday, friday for an hour
wednesday i do a step routine and weights for an hour
saturday is day off and sunday is usually a run but i am hoping to add more family time exercise like walkign bikign swimming etc.

and i got to say it is hard work. the food thing is not so bad. im okay with my diet. i miss some family meals like lasagne....but i can handle this. the exercies is pretty much ingrained now. but still there are days i am runnign and i think what the hell am i doing this for. i am lookign forward to beign able to have more off days once i reach my goal weight. also looking forward to maintenance life where i will have a bit more flexibility with what i want to eat. but i still go to bed every nite and wake up every morning and feel really proud of what i have accomplished and the positive changes in my life.

one very interestign thing has happended to me which i think i will post on juicing forum to see if anyone can help me out. i cannot tolerate very much protein if i eat too much meat or chicken or fish (and we are talking small portions) i have major stomach ache the next day. almost intergestion but worst. twice now i have had an allergic rash from chicken. all the meat i consume is organice and always prepared low fat and no additives. i have done small experiements and elimnated other food to see if it is just the protein but it is definatley this that causes the problem. i have thought about replacign with tofu and seeing if this has the same effect. i really do feel like i need to eat some protein. i cant imagine what dairy would do to me and part of the reason i am dairy free. if anyone has any ideas let me know.
