Back at my job. The walking here, I've decided, is more than just a walk. It's so frenetic...the pace, the sights, the sounds...

My walking here during a recent shift included:

Walking around on the front lawn of the counseling center where I work, talking to a cab dispatcher on the portable phone, while watching a confused client who was out by the front steps with several suitcases waiting and waiting for a cab. 10 minutes walking...nowhere to sit down and I experience pain if I stand in one place for too long. So I walked...and walked...and walked.

Then I walked back to the office to call an employee at a different location for a consultation. Then another consultation via phone, then one call on hold while I took another, while walking around the center re-stocking all the supplies that run out during my days off and checking on each of the clients in the nearly-full center.

Walking back and forth to a client's room in the basement several times for special welfare checks with a nurse who requested accompaniment.

Helping new admit unload belongings (think big here) from taxi, take new admit on tour of center.

Walk back and forth between buildings several times.

Estimated total time walking: 2 hours.

Does it count? (I ask myself). It's got to count for something.

So life goes on.
