Internat'l Day of PEACE by Liora Leah .....

Today, September 21, is designated by the U.N. as the "International Day of Peace". Please join people from around the globe during this spiritual, 24-hour, observation of peace and nonviolence.

Date:   9/21/2005 11:18:00 AM ( 19 y ago)

Seek Peace!

In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly unanimously adopted resolution (A/RES/55/282) designating September 21st of each year as an International Day of Peace.

The intention of the resolution is to have the entire world observe a day of peace and nonviolence. All peoples and organizations are invited to commemorate the day in an appropriate manner.

An ever-expanding number of people worldwide, representing a wide variety of religious and spiritual traditions, have committed to the task of working with other like-minded individuals and groups for an International Day of Peace Vigil with the following objective:

"To encourage worldwide, 24-hour spiritual observations for peace and nonviolence on the International Day of Peace, 21 September 2005 in every house of worship and place of spiritual practice, by all religious and spiritually based groups and individuals, and by all men, women and children who seek peace in the world."

This global 24-hour spiritual observation for peace is meant to demonstrate the power of prayer and other spiritual practices in promoting peace and preventing violent conflict. These worldwide spiritual observances will also help raise public awareness of the International Day of Peace and directly support the establishment of a global ceasefire. Individuals and groups are invited to support this worldwide initiative by committing to hold a 24-hour vigil on 21 September 2005.

Please register your commitment on the International Day of Peace Vigil website at http://www.idpvigil.com

BEING ALL THE COMPASSION WE CAN BE

1) SUMMARY
Once upon a time, ten sages of great wisdom came to Earth to assist the awakening human beings upon their path of self-discovery. Each one of them has a unique gift to share with all who are ready to listen to them. Each of these ten gifts is an essential element that each soul aspiring to complete spiritual awakening needs to embody perfectly in order to succeed. The understanding of Love as the first Key was the gift offered by the first sage. Compassion is the gift presented by the second sage. Here is what this sage has to say about it.

In essence, we are all One, but in the physical form we appear as separate beings, each seemingly unrelated to all other beings. Yet this is an illusion, as all Life forms are intrinsically connected to all others through the same Life Force pulsing and flowing through their cells. Realizing that deep within leads to increased caring for all others in service to the One Life in All. Compassion is that sense of being-responsible-for-the-well-being-of-all in action. Acting with compassion is also love in action, for love and compassion are both sides of the same coin.

Once we embody compassion, through all kinds of gratuitous, selfless acts of kindness, we know from the fulfilling sentiment of doing what is needed for the highest good of all that we have become an instrument of a Higher Purpose. Through opening ourselves to being such instruments of the One Life in All, we cease to experience the illusion of separation, for in completely surrendering ourselves to serving All That Is through whatever opportunity presenting itself to us in perfect synchrony, we become One with All That Is.

Thus through embodying Compassion, the Second Key of your Global Awakening, you step into and co-create the New Era of Peace, Love and Harmony that is now manifesting.

As you join in synchronous meditation with all, simply Be All The Compassion That You Can Be, for the Highest Good of All.

Being 'anti-war' inadvertently sabotages what we want to achieve. War is the ultimate way to be 'against' something, and being anti-war is along that same continuum and we do not want to be in that consciousness nor vibrate with that same energy. Energetically, being 'anti' anything involves pushing against something and eliciting an equal and opposite response. Therefore, being anti-war inadvertently strengthens the war, which is the opposite of what we want to achieve. By pushing and leaning against something, through entrainment, we begin to vibrate at that same level. Let our emphasis be on changing the world and bringing more peace and justice to the world.--author unknown

International Day of Peace Vigil

- Experience the Beauty of Global Meditation
- Join with hundreds of thousands around the world in the largest annual global meditation event
- Participate in a pilot project to help us learn more about how to connect the many emerging global networks of spiritual peacemakers

I am convinced that globally-synchronized prayer and meditation events are an important emerging spiritual practice as we move toward a planetary civilization.

By allowing people all over the planet to sense their silent unity with each other, these events accelerate the emergence of a truly global consciousness. By focusing on a shared vision of a healed planet, they create powerful thought forms that inspire the collective imagination of humanity. And by opening to divine inspiration, they create a global portal through which benevolent spiritual energies can descend to support our collective evolution. I think that we are going to see these events grow more and more, particularly with the support of the emerging internet tools that facilitate online networking.

I have joined a team of scholars and information technology experts at the California Institute of Integral Studies, San Francisco, who are working to develop a leading-edge online communication system that can support networking and community building among spiritual activists. I am excited to invite you to participate in a pilot project that will help us to learn more about how to connect the many emerging global networks of spiritual peacemakers to support regular, large-scale global meditation events.

Wednesday September 21, 2005 is designated by the United Nations as the International Day of Peace. All around the world on that day, thousands of groups will participate in the International Day of Peace Vigil, a twenty-four hour period to honor world peace through prayer, meditation, and other spiritual rituals (see http://www.idpvigil.com ) I and my team will be convening a large event in San Francisco, in which participants will come together in sacred space to dance, to pray, to be silent and still. We would love you to participate in your home towns, in your own way. You could invite family and friends to come to your house to celebrate peace, hire a community hall for a public event, or just participate by yourself with your own private meditation. For this event, it doesn't matter what time of day you choose - it will be a continuous, rolling global meditation over 24 hours.

If you would like to be part of this pilot project, we will send you a short online survey after the event to gather valuable information about your experience. Your information will help us to design key features of the online communication system and the next phase of our project. We expect that the next phase will include a trial of the online system in conjunction with a future global meditation event.

Will you join us? Now, more than ever - when the conventional means to seeking positive collective change seem largely blocked - the work of subtler forms of activism is vital. If you intend to participate, please email davidnicol@sbcglobal.net  and send your email address for the online dimension of the project. We promise not to share your email address with anyone for any other purpose.

Yours in hope for a transformed world,
